As the film becomes more clueless to the audience about Forrest and Jenny’s feelings, the inner thoughts of Forrest reconnects back to make sure the audience does not become confused. Forrest appears in the right moments when Jenny is in need of help but refuses his gesture of help, we compare her feelings to when she was just a young girl and now a grown woman. As Forrest tells Jenny she should go home instead of running around how she is, that she does not want Forrest to get in the middle of being far away. Jenny and Forrest went outside into the deep areas of Jenny 's corn field and prayed “God make me a bird so I can fly far away from here”, she is also from running away before to now a simpler way of stating is that she has always ran away from her past. She later comes back to Forrest sober from drugs but has HIVs to change for the best sake of her son, which can cause the audience to ask themselves “why does she want him now? Is it because she does not have anyone to provide her?” (she loses her mother at a young age, her dad was sent to jail). As she does all theses different types of drugs she seems to be fed up with herself and wants to kill herself. What is special about the movie is instead of risking her life early, she at moments misses/ wishes for Forrest. Some recall Forrest stupid for the actions he can not control, he is also changing baby steps at a time for his mind to comprehend topics or vocabulary he can not quite define. He can start realizing how long a real friend to find, that Jenny does not love him, also valuing life. By convincing the audience she does love him, he wakes up to hearing Jenny move in with luggage and proclaims she loves him for
A trait that makes Forrest Gump a great hero is that he is protective, of his friends & Jenny. Jenny was constantly being mistreated & hurt. Whenever Forrest was there & saw this, he punched that guy right in the face to defend her. Jenny also had a horrible childhood & was abused by her dad too. Her house reminded her of what ruined her life, so Forrest had it bulldozed. She never had to look at that awful place ever again. After Jenny died, Forrest looked after Forrest Jr. He taught him to read & do many other things. He cared for & protected his family to the

Near the beginning of Finding Forrester, Jamal and his friends are confused by the behavior of “The Window” - who later is discovered to be the author, Forrester himself, in hiding. Because Jamal and his friends are confused by Forrester’s habits - such as peering out of his corner apartment window to the basketball court the young boys haunt and the fact that they have never seen the hermit, pale from decades without seeing the sun, go outside- they find it difficult to trust him. Jamal and Forrester begin to grow closer, though, after his friends dare him to sneak into Forrester’s apartment, take a picture, and steal something. The two begin to grow close - though not without a few bumps in the road - and, as Rob Brown observes, “Forrester brings out Jamal’s intelligence, and Jamal brings Forrester back into life . . .” (Movielocity, 2001, p. 2), both Forrester and Jamal come to count on each other. Forrester is able to give Jamal an unprejudiced point of view he cannot find anywhere else, just as Jamal is able to give Forrester the courage to go out in the world and migrate back into society. When Forrester brandishes a letter opener at Jamal not long after they meet, it is because the former has forgotten how to interact with people, so he and Jamal anger each other. After being secluded from society for nigh on four decades, it is hard for Forrester to trust anyone, and Jamal is confused as to who
The author George Elliot once said “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Appearance can be very misleading, and you shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone. This philosophical idea has been included in many works of literature, including the timeless classic To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. The novel takes place in the town of Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930s. Many citizens of Maycomb tend to make judgements based on outward appearances alone. In the novel, Lee uses minor characters such as Boo Radley, Mrs. Dubose, and Tom Robinson to convey the book’s theme of prejudice.
What is sociological imagination? Our textbook describes sociological imagination as the ability to see our private experiences, personal difficulties, and achievements as, in part, a reflection of the structural arrangements of society and the times in which we live. The movie entitled Forrest Gump is a great example of sociological imagination. In this paper, I will cite examples from the movie and tell how they correlate with sociological imagination. Sociological imagination allows us examine the events of our lives and see how they intersect with the wider context of history and tradition of the society in which we live. (Hughes/Kroehler, The Core, p. 7)
Courage is valued in many ways. It is measured by bravery, heroism, physical strength, and morally correct behavior. The world mostly defines courage as having physical strength and being brave. Atticus, Scout, and Jem show many acts of courage through the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. They all have different views and opinions on courage. The novel is told from the point of view of Scout. She, and her brother Jem, live with their widowed father in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930’s. Their father, Atticus, is also a lawyer who defends his black client, Tom Robinson, who is innocent of rape. The title To Kill A Mockingbird explains that “it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” because they “make music for us to enjoy” (Lee 119). In other words, the mockingbirds are harmless and have never done anything wrong. It would be considered a sin to kill a harmless and peaceful mockingbird. Similarly, accusing an innocent and
“Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people’s gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. Thats why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” (119). In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, the first mention of a mockingbird appears when Jem and Scout are learning how to use their new air rifles. Atticus doesn’t want to teach them how to shoot the air rifles, but he gives them one rule to follow: do not kill mockingbirds. Later Scout, the main character, is told by Miss Maudie about how it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they are innocent and they don't do anything to anyone. Throughout this story, there are several characters who are portrayed as mockingbird figures. Jem, Scout, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley all fit the symbol of a mockingbird because they all start off innocent but are later changed dramatically by the brokenness of the world.
The character Jenny Curran from the movie Forrest Gump, had a tough life from the very beginning of the movie throughout to the end. During the movie, most parts were assumed and not actually said. For example, as a child she was physically abused as well as sexually abuse, however, it isn’t said, a scene of her with dirty ripped clothes and older Forrest narrating says “her father was always touching and kissing her and her sister” that implies that her father was sexually abusing her. Jenny’s father was not only abusive but an alcoholic and neglected the care of Jenny. Throughout the rest of the movie, Forrest is always there to support and love her, and the detrimental decisions she makes and the different paths she endeavors, inevitably catch up with her in the end. In this essay, one of the main points we see by Jenny’s character are all of the metaphors between what she says and the advice she gives to Forrest, for example, to run from danger and her own constant behavior to fun away from whatever she is afraid of. Jenny Curran will be the focus observation and personality study. Although the main character in this film is Forrest Gump, we are able to see the trials Jenny’s incurs and how it develops her personality. The main idea of this essay is to look at Jenny’s life and find the foundation for what her personality was build on and all of the influences of change throughout her life. Her various personality and life changes will be examined as well as the environmental and social influences.
It is a great example of how persevering through life’s obstacles can make life even better than before. Being different creates many challenges for Forrest, however, he shows inner strength as he fights through these challenges. Therefore, the movie reveals that life will not always be perfect, but it is important to persevere through the adversity that it is filled with. ...tness someone with true values of honesty, friendship and family. Forrest is a man with a huge heart and a low IQ, however, he never lets that get in his way. He lets his heart out power his brain and becomes a very successful man. Forrest is a very positive and optimistic person. He always sees the best in people and never stops trying in any situation he is given. At the beginning of the movie, a feather floats down and lands near his feet while waiting on a bench, at the end of the movie, the feather reappears and lands beside him. Forrest then looks up, speaking to the lady beside him on the park bench and asks, “ Do we each have a destiny- or do we just float around accidental, like on a breeze?” While the viewers are deciphering the answer to this particular question, the feather reappears and floats right up through he country side and to the ending credits.
