Nowadays, forensics is used all the time to solve gruesome crimes over the entire world. Most people that are interested in forensics wonders how different kinds of forensics solve the crimes and bring justice to the court. There are many types of forensics in the crime lab, but these are a few that really get the job done; Forensic Odontology, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Nursing, Forensic Psychology. To start off, what is forensics? Forensics is a scientific method that uses the latest technology to collect evidence, preserve and analyze it ("Crime Laboratories"). Forensic anthropologist analyze human remains and determine who they are. Oftentimes, forensic anthropologists are called on after forces of nature take their toll on the world and leave many people dead. They are also needed at crime scenes to help recover any evidence they might need. Forensic anthropologists are educated in osteology which is the study of bones. Using the knowledge, the forensic anthropologist can look at the human remains and determine how the person may have been killed; whether it was natural causes, suicide, homicide ,or accidental. Using the bones of the victim, the forensic anthropologist can determine many things about the victim, including; the age of the individual(s), the sex, the height, the type of occupation they may have worked in, sometimes they can even identify a sport they play or have played in the past, and even the overall health status at the time of death. This information from the bones can lead crime scene investigators to the identities of the people and as well as how they died. They get acumen on the details about the person (“Forensic Anthropologist"). Forensic anthropology is one of the newer fields in forensics. Although, there was a pretty famous grisly murders of the 19th century that were solved through examination of bones by the anthropologist (PBS). Forensic nurses help investigate crimes that include sexual assault, accidental death, and physical assault. They are trained in collecting medical evidence and the criminal justice system. A forensic nurse is detail-oriented and most of their time spent in hospital emergency rooms. Forensic nurses also testify in court as an expert medical witness (N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Mar. 2015. ). Forensic nurses collect evidence, collect blood and tissue samples, measure and photograph wounds, and provides the support the victims need (N.p., n.d. Web).
