Ford has been exciting car enthusiasts more than any other company. They have added new styling and features to the cars and trucks in their lineup, and they have rivaled other companies like Honda and Toyota. One of the most talked about vehicles in their arsenal is the 2017 Ford Fusion; the Fusion has been a favorite with car buyers since its inception in 2006, and it continues to incite conversation amongst automobile fanatics. The Fusion is a four door, five passenger sedan with a six speed automatic transmission. In addition to the features that made the Fusion a household name, there are plenty of new options and engine choices; the abundant choices allow the Fusion to have something for everyone. Any trim level of the Fusion can add: a cross-traffic alert system, inflatable seat belts, a collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring, and a drowsy driver warning system. A sunroof and satellite radio are optional, as well. Despite the new additives, there are some pitfalls of the new Fusion. The new styling of the roof leaves little headroom in the backseat, which would make it an unpleasant ride for anyone who wasn’t quick enough to call shotgun. Ford is behind the times when it comes to automatic braking; there isn’t an option to add this feature. There are three packages – other than the Appearance package -- that can be added, and an additional engine option. The Luxury package exchanges the 2.5-liter engine for a turbocharged 1.5-liter, which is rated at 181 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. The engine adds greater fuel economy -- 27 mpg combined, or 23 city/34 highway -- and more power than that of the lackluster, standard engine. Other features in the package are: an engine stop-start system, which helps to save fuel at stoplights; keyless entry and ignition; LED headlights and fog lights; auto-dimming rearview and driver-side mirrors; heated seats and mirrors; and leather upholstery. The Technology package gives the car rear parking sensors, which allows the car to assist the driver with perpendicular and parallel parking. The package, also, includes: navigation, automatic climate control, an 11-speaker sound system, the Sync 3 technology interface, an adaptive cruise control feature, an additional USB port, and better voice controls.
