For Better or Worse

In modern society, the institution of marriage and its sustained longevity is a concept that has become one of the greatest failures in society. While there was once an abundance of married couples who celebrated consecutive decades of marriage, there now seems to be more couples who are divorced, never reaching the first year of marriage, much less a single decade.

Since God first blessed humankind with the gift of marriage, many have celebrated the joyous event, expressing the devotion and commitment premised upon love emulating the unity found in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God expressed Himself to man and women by giving them relationship. God’s intention for marriage between man and women is to endure a lifetime of togetherness for the two partners. A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, becoming one flesh and with this, let no person separate what God has joined.

The understanding of what it means to be married from a biblical perspective and current, popular perspective are the epitome of light and darkness. Today, as some argue for the biblical understanding of marriage, is through sexual intercourse. It is common for those to marry on a premise of only physical attraction, which is dominated by the physical act of sex, which alone does not provide the substance to sustain a successful marriage. God gave sex to the married for the couple’s satisfaction and reproduction. He did not intend it to be an act misused or misinterpreted to satisfy the desire of the flesh. God’s intention for marriage was far more than just the physical; it was/is a joining of the natural/supernatural attributes of God and Jesus Christ, the center of the marital equation, so the cou...

I do believe divorce is a serious sin and problem in this world, especially in this country. Divorce has become a convenience without regard to this spiritual complications it imposes. Couples, who are presently married, should research every possible option before entering into a final decree of divorce, because with adultery being grounds for a divorce, remarrying could very well cause one to become the very reason for divorce.
