Reflection On Monday April fourth from 8:00 pm to 8:16 pm we had our initial gathering on the patio of Harris Hall. During this meeting we discussed who would be doing what job. “The presentation and packaging is everything,” (Davis) I and Katerina Garcia were both assigned research, LaBethany Bradford was in charge of creativity, and Hannah Huskey was the person who tracked all the meetings. At first we discussed southern food, traditions in the south, and football. We then decided to narrow the topic even more by making our main points not quite so broad. We started out by splitting up jobs and topics, how we would display our argument, and lastly we decided what kind of research would back our argument up. When beginning our project it …show more content…
The walk of champions is where all of the home team fans line up along the walkway to the stadium. This is to see the team enter the stadium and normally happens about two hours before the game. For the south eastern conference all the games start on the same day. This day is full of traditions that every school celebrates. Tailgating is one of these traditions. In the north tailgating is just like it sounds. The literally use a tailgate to eat food and have a gathering. In the south the fans put up tents normally in their yard if they live nearby the stadium, on the side of the road near the stadium, and on the quad. Tailgating normally starts on Friday morning and ends on Sunday, but this mainly depends on the school and their rules. LaBethany Bradford conducted research on fight songs, rivalries, and high school football versus college football. . The fight song is very important to the average college student who is interested in the game of football. Rivalries are huge at the University of Alabama, but it is not just us because every team has a rivalry. There are designated days for football. A typical weekend of every football lover is Friday night football is for high school, Saturday football is for college, and Sundays are for the National Football …show more content…
It took a lot of digging to find anything on my particular subjects, “One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.” (Davis) For example I had never heard of shakers until I attended an Alabama football game and was given one for school spirit. At my high school we had very poor school spirit so the whole thing was very new to me. To locate research I just started asking people on campus what they thought about the shakers and if anyone knew about how the National Football League shows school spirit. I received lots of helpful feedback in my research to find general information on National Football League from my fellow classmates on

Students are always taught about slavery, segregation, war, and immigration, but one of the least common topics is farm women in the 1930’s. Lou Ann Jones, author of Mama Learned Us to Work, portrayed a very clear and clean image to her readers as to what the forgotten farm-women during the 1930’s looked like. This book was very personal to me, as I have long listened to stories from my grandmother who vividly remembers times like these mentioned by Jones. In her book Mama Learned Us to Work, author Lou Ann Jones proves that farm women were a major part of Southern economy throughout the content by the ideology and existence of peddlers, the chicken business, and linen production.

Fantasy football started at the Milford Plaza Hotel in New York City. A man named Wilfred “Bill” Winkenbach invented fantasy football. He was an Oakland area businessman and a partner with the Oakland Raiders. He met with three friends who were all a part of the Raiders organization. They met in Winkenbach’s hotel room and cracked some brews then Bill started talking about a game he thought of that involved the PGA tour and Major League Baseball. The league focused on AFL skill players and it was called the GOPPPL (Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Procrastinators League). The league had eight teams and had a list of certain qualifications to meet. Members had to meet one of the following qualifications an administrative
In my 8 or so years of playing football I’ve often heard coaches liken the job of the linemen to that of a soldier fighting in a trench, pushing, attacking, and struggling for every inch of the battlefield that is the line of scrimmage. Of course, the job of a lineman is far less dramatic and glorious than that description makes it out to be, most of our job is just keeping the defense at bay so the quarterback and the rest of the backfield has time to get a play off. Unfortunately for us offensive linemen, the defense has a much larger bag of tricks when it comes to the actual clash, they can grab, pull, or simply spin by while the O-line is relegated mostly to pushing with shoulder and hand. This can make things difficult if, for instance
On Sundays in the fall people all over the world are watching pro football. But do they know how it came to be or how the rules have gotten to be the way they are today? Most people don’t, so I am going to tell you all about it.
When I was beginning high school as a freshman, I searched for an activity that I could participate in. I was looking to meet new people and hoping to be accepted by other students. I was willing to do anything for their acceptance. At the beginning of the school year a football meeting was announced, although I had never played football before, I decided to attend the meeting. From the day of that initial meeting, I will be in love with the game for the rest of my life. I learned of the consequences involved with participating in a full contact sport such as football. Many people ask if football is worth the risk for high school athletes. I decided that for me the benefits outweigh the risks.

Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
