As the most popular sport, football takes an important part of ordinary Americans. Football is always attracting the attention of many people, whether it is a professional league or university matches. Tucson is also attracted to football. The Arizona Wildcats football team belongs to the University of Arizona in Tucson. This team created many awards since they were built. I heard that they joined the Pacific-12 Conference in 1978. What’s more, the Wildcats has made a great contribution to the development of the football alliance as the main members of the Pacific-12 Conference. In addition, they also belong to the football Pac-12 Championships. All of evidences state clearly that we have a strong team at the University of Arizona. So I watched the first football match in my …show more content…
life in order to see the fantasy football team at the beginning of the fall semester.
The exciting match still happened on September 3rd between the team of wildcats and the team of UTSA. It was the exciting match for me because I could see the power of cooperation and the spirit of never give up showing in the two teams. For me, the more important is that the process of the participant and observation is the way to know the unknown field.
The football match began in the evening of September 3rd at 7:30pm. What surprised me most before the formal match was that the rain has miraculously stopped before the start of the match. It was likely means that we would get the final victory.
Although that day was a rainy day before the beginning of the football match, the weather did not make the audience depressed. In contrast, when we came in the stadium, I found that the audience who wore raincoats or hold umbrellas were sitting in their seat and they still kept the passion to support them. I was shocked when I entered the stadium because all of audiences in front of me wear the wildcat’s clothes, and it looked like the “red ocean”. I could see the stadium clearly because I sit in
high seat. When my friend and I quickly sit in our seats, the national anthem is played. The audiences stood and put their right hand on their chest. After the song finished, the teams of wildcats appeared with the cheering squad and marching band performed in the center of the yard. With wonderful and attractive firework appeared, some audiences yellowed, others whistle toward the opponent. The whole yard was filled with smoke and the formal match began. In the first 15 minutes of the first half match, the two teams stood in the center of the yard, and our team get the goal line firstly. Although I didn’t understand the rule of the football, the nervous feeling in the teams could be found by me. With the time passed by, the player who wear the No.28 took the measure of rushing helping our teams to get 6 points. Then the Wildcats reached the upright, two teams seemed to be in a stalemate. In the second 15 minutes of the first half match, when the Wildcats was passing with the ball, we didn’t get points because of out of the boundary. At that time, the score of wildcats was weaker than the opponent. However, with the match became fierce, the wildcats throw a ball called Hail Mary Pass. Audiences were yellow so loud that I had to cover my ears and some of them were excited to stand up and watch the match. The ball gave us a great encourage even though we still in the position of weakness. I was worried the match because the first half of the match finished. The exciting match has been carried out in half. As an observer, I enjoyed in the match even though I still confused about some rules. Through the match, I could know about what the spirit of never give up is and how a team cooperated in a match. Vince Lombardi who is one of the most successful coach in American football history said, “Winning isn't everything--but wanting to win is.” This means that a team must do their best to complete the match even though they can’t win in the end. According to the summary of the score of the first half, a same point showed in the two teams that they tended to be passing yard rather than rushing yard. Passing yard means that we work together for the same goal, however, rushing yard is that only one person complete the goal. The two teams compete each other by cooperating. Win isn’t means everything and the positive of athletic is first task we should consider. I guess that the football players might have the same feeling as me. With the first half of match over, the cheering squad and marching band appeared again. The voice of uplifting instruments were glamorous and the ebullient dance were attracted many audiences.
Charles Kenny starts the article with an easily acceptable example. The example that is given is about the Super Bowl and how they “donate the losing team’s shirts to a charity” (Kenny 58). By using football, Charles Kenny is able to pull in a large and preferred audience. He aims towards Americans to read his article and the Super Bowl is a common subject talked between Americans. The placement of the example is also very important.
The Odessa football players couldn't be objective about criticisms of football. Their total self-esteem depended on how they did on Friday night. This was the glorified culmination of their football career: wearing the black MoJo uniform in the stadium under the big lights. Football was more than just a game to them; it was a religion. It "made them seem like boys going off to fight a war for the benefit of someone else, unwitting sacrifices to a strange and powerful god" (Bissinger, p.11). Because football was so meaningful in their lives, to criticize it was to criticize everything they'd worked so hard for and lived for.
Douglas E. Foley offers an interesting analysis of American football culture in high schools, in his article titled “The Great American Football Ritual: Reproducing Race, Class and Gender Inequality”. The author covers the ways that the football culture splits people apart and segregates them into groups based on what they contribute to the football scene. The football scene seems to bring negativity to the lives of every group it touches, yet it is still a staple in American culture to this day.
Throughout College Football's extensive 138 year history, there has been debate over which football team is the greatest dynasty. Many dynasties throughout the nation have the ability to be titled 'the greatest'. Nevertheless, the University of Notre Dame is undeniably the best overall College Football dynasty, when one considers not only statistics but also tradition, heart, and dedication. Notre Dame?s exceptional dynasty has many attributing factors throughout its history. These factors range from the greatest coaches and players to the contagious Irish spirit. No matter what ethnic background a Notre Dame man comes from, the minute he steps out onto 'Rockne's house'(Notre Dame Stadium), he automatically becomes one of the Fighting Irish. It is a telling act that throughout Notre Dame's history, and increasingly in recent years, many players, coaches, and fans have made the university their home purely because of their preference to be in the midst of a community of learning where belief is not merely tolerated, but in fact is celebrated.
The reader should read this article to learn how football is “undermining our education system and hurting our competitiveness in technology, science, and engineering.” The author
When Eruzione scored winning goal, a scene of intense happiness broke out everywhere in the country. There were 10 minutes left, but the Soviets weren't able to score a goal; they had several chances to tie the game, but the USA grew stronger and more confident as time went on. A miracle had just occurred, one which will probably not happen for a very long time.
American Football is a huge spectator sport where offensive and defensive players will use teamwork and perseverance to try and score more points than their opponent. Football is highly respected in America, where boys will try and pursue the dream of playing in the NFL (National Football Association) someday; but if you look at an average neighborhood, you will find that kids and adults of all ages love to go out and throw around the pigskin. (Lerner and Lerner 275). One thing Americans will take pride in is the college and NFL football teams they root for. People sit down with a beer and talk hours upon hours of football and two individuals can get in a heated discussion in the local sports store of whose sports team is better. Surprisingly enough, one will find the most passionate football players at the high school level. Most boys will start their football career as a young child in football programs such as Pop Warner to get a foothold and to get those involved in teamwork and friendships. These programs are usually the start to someone falling in love with the sport and making it a career choice eight years later. Football is one of America’s favorite sports. When fall season comes around, people across America are placing bets, finding out where that new sports bar is, and buying wide screen T.V’s to watch NFL on Sundays. After their team plays, they will go out and reminisce what happened that Sunday. While thousands of fans are still pumped from the NFL games they watched; small towns across America are getting ready to shut down their shops and restaurants to have the chance to make it to the local high schools football game. Ray Glier, a reporter for the New York Times, writes about football in the small town of Appala...
In the 2015 AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots were accused of tampering with their footballs. They allegedly deflated the footballs to 2 PSI below the legal limit, supposedly giving them an unconstituted and illegal advantage. On May 11th, 2015, the National Football League ruled that the Patriots organization was guilty, penalizing them with a 1 million dollar fine, the loss of a first round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and the loss of a fourth round pick in the 2017 draft. Tom Brady, the quarterback, was personally penalized with a four-game suspension for his involvement in the incident. He claims, however, to be innocent and has been exhausting every possible legal avenue to avoid his punishment.
The Road Less Traveled People often go through their life working-out and going to the gym to get “buff.” For ninety-five percent of Americans that do work out, few can say that they have pushed themselves as hard as possible, but I have the distinct, and often painful, pleasure of knowing that there is another way to work out. This option is unlike any other that I have ever personally been through and is a way that I would not wish on any average American. 4:55 a.m. Seventeen degrees Fahrenheit, a mild breeze of ten miles per-hour. For the fifth day in a row and second consecutive month, it is time for me to wake up, make the face-numbing, core-hardening walk through the snow to the Mildred and Louis Lasch Football Building.

Everyone feels the need to belong. Some people find the answer to fulfill that need in sports. In the United States, the go-to sport is football. Following one’s hometown team or childhood NFL team through the regular season, playoffs, and hopefully, the Super Bowl has become a staple for today’s culture. Whether or not their favorite team makes it to the big Super Bowl game, they still find themselves cheering on one of the teams competing. T...
It was a bright, August day, with a temperature to match. At least 85°, sun outside was at its peak, with not a cloud to be seen for miles. Such a day is almost unheard of in southern Germany, where the weather tends to be milder year round. It was the perfect day to begin the new season, as well as my first match. I had played many games before this day – nine years’ worth in fact. However, they had all been in the United States, where football is the king of sports. Although the atmosphere was similar, there were distinct, yet almost intangible differences. Many devoted soccer fans do exist in the United States, but the aura at many matches seems to be rather lackluster. Many of those present appear to be disinterested, and it is rarer to see a full venue than in Europe. The set up and division of the sport alone set itself apart from the US. Schools do not have sports teams, only clubs and cities do. Most of the players had been with the same coach and team members since they...
The roaring of the crowd on November 17 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC finally fell silent late in the fourth quarter after star linebacker Luke Kuechly was slow to get off the field after a huge hit to the head. American’s live to be entertained, and the football field is one of the main sources of enjoyment for many. Immediately after Kuechly’s hit, it was quiet in the stadium for the first time that day. The fans watched in fear, waiting to see if their star player could finish the game and bring out the win. However, they all became disappointed as Kuechly shed tears while being carted off the field, not because they were worried about the player and his head but because they feared about losing the game. Americans want excitement,
In this problem we had to create a new irrigation system for the football field. We had to determine the best route for the pipes to travel while also making sure we can water each part of the field. After we found this out we had to create a rough draft of our findings and find the calculations of or sprinklers and water pipes and then create a digital representation of our rough draft on Adobe illustrator.
One one thousand. The stands are filled with men, women, and children waving their hands and homemade signs. The cheers coming from the crowd make it hard for me to hear. I smell the hot dogs, popcorn, and pizza being sold at the concession stand. The marching band has just left the field with the tuba player’s last note still ringing in my ear. In the fourth quarter with us in the lead by five the scoreboard shows six seconds. The coach yells, “It’s time to go”! I strap on my helmet with great enthusiasm and head towards the field to take my position.
