I never understood how visualizing a football field could ever help me to cope and understand my school life. Realizing, how far I am in this game, I have so many more yards and experiences to struggle through. A simple metaphor explained to me by my dad, that I now understand, has put my life in perspective.
Picture a football field as a game of life. It contains green grass with white lines painted on each blade. Each white line represent each year of my life, hard fought and sometimes impossible. Instead, the fight is not over a football, but rather the day to day struggles of high school.
Battling with speech issues at the age of four, my dad used my love of football combined with the way of life to motivate me to push through my struggles.
“The Green Bay Packers are a non-profit corporation held by the citizens of Green Bay to run it’s football team”,who I think are the best, arguably are the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug,11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after.Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a
America’s Team Will the real “America’s Team” please stand up? This term is widely used throughout the media when referring to the Dallas Cowboys. “America’s Team” was first coined some 40 years ago while introducing them for a feature film by the legendary sport writer Bob Ryan. In the following years, because of their success and mass media exposure they were a team that America as a nation could identify with ,so the name stuck. The Cowboys since those days has regressed into a very mediocre team who only looks for moral instead of actual Super Bowl victories.
High school sports can have a tremendous effect on not only those who participate but the members of the community in which they participate. These effects can be positive, but they can also be negative. In the book Friday Night Lights, H.G. Bissinger shows that they are often negative in communities where high school sports “keep the town alive” due to the social pressure. In this way, Friday Night Lights gives insight into the effects of high school football being the backbone of a community, revealing that the fate of the individual football players are inadvertently determined by the actions of the townspeople.
Students should read this book in a high school English classroom because it demonstrates how relationships can be difficult, but teamwork can help to solve many issues. Hutch realized that it would not help his team to continue fighting with Darryl and by being mad at his father. He was able to take those difficult relationships and form them into positive outcomes and achieve his goal. After winning the championship game, “Hutch made his way through his teammates, and up through the stands and did something he had not done in a very long time: Hutch hugged his father. And his father hugged him back” (Lupica 243). This proves to students that if they continue to work hard and focus on a goal, they can achieve it by being a team player on and off the field.
Since 2005 the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 3 million dollars because of the environmental work they have done and 100 percent of their energy comes from reusable sources. ("Smarter Business: Greening the Games") To start off, most NFL teams have charities and donate to charities, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, they help out with the environment. Teams have a special way to pick players around the league and in the draft for their team. To add to that, NFL teams and especially the Eagles keep a close eye on the player's health and how to keep them healthy. I want to start an NFL team and have the franchise based on the Philadelphia Eagles. There are many cities in the U.S. that are suitable for teams and there are a lot of things
“‘Athletics last for such a short period of time. It ends for people. But while it lasts, it creates this make-believe world where normal rules don’t apply. We build this false atmosphere. When it’s over and the harsh reality sets in, that’s the real joke we play on people’” (Bissinger xiv). “Friday Night Lights” shows the darker side of high school football. Players are taught to play games to win, and thats all that matters. Football players are put under a tremendous amount of pressure, almost enough to be considered unfair. Even though football is a “team sport”, pressure on individual players is unnecessary. Some players have the burden of the team, the city, their family, and their future, resting on their shoulders. These players are put under pressure that is physically and emotionally damaging, not to mention future ruining.
It was two hours before our anticipated game against Manitou Springs, the second ranked team in the state. As I walked through the brick arches I heard nothing but honking traffic from blocks away. I got an eerie feeling when I saw all the smoke coming out of industrial factories, and noticed that no one else was there; I felt like I was in a ghost town. Our team started to go on to the field that we would be playing on to observe the differences in it. As I walked through the gate leading to the field, I was awestruck. It seemed as though this field was the only place in this strange neighborhood privileged enough to receive light from the blazing sun; standing on the field made it seem as though the creepy town had disappeared. The feeling overwhelmed me as I saw the flawless grass outfield and th...

Sadly, my family was going through financial struggles, forcing me out of the school zone I was destined to attend. When I discussed the situation wih the high school coaches they told me they would pick me up from my new house and take me to school every day; with the condition that I’d play football for them all throughout high school. Even though this was illegal I continued to go ahead and accept the offer. My first year of high school was so exciting that it went by in the blink of an eye. Sophomore year came and the clock ticked closer and closer to when everything would change. I started in varsity as a corner back but soon would have big shoes to fill as the team’s quarterback. Not only did this require skill and hard work but the ability and qualities of a leader as well. Ultimately, playing this position helped me acquire traits that would soon be necessary for success. That year was tough for us because the majority of the team consisted of inexperienced players, however the coaches knew I would be the one to lead the
All over America, friends and families join together on Friday nights in order to watch their hometown’s high school football game. However, many of the spectators do not go to just watch the game. As suggested by Lewis Lapham, the players play and the spectators spectate in order to feel a sense of various abstract things. There is much more to sports than the game itself. In Friday Night Lights, sports establish the illusions of both innocence and hope.
It shares a daily routine that all athletes go through, and it also shares inspirational things that will keep them on their feet to strive for their dreams and goals. All athletes’ goals are to win every game, but in order for them to accomplish that; they would have to keep grinding and keep pushing them to the end. Aside from sports it also applies to non-athletes and everyone. Apply it to our everyday life on going to school, work and others. School is sometimes frustrating that it will make you want to give up and find a job already but being able to find something or someone that motivates and inspires you on going school the first place, it will keep you going. It helps you focus more on why you are there and what your goals after completing it. Being in school is a mind torture but believing and pushing as stated in the speech helps you straighten your path to your goals. It also works the same way for work because work is like school but if you push yourself you will eventually get to a higher and promoting position. This speech is a good way to think about your life too because it is motivating everyone especially the athletes. This speech is to also motivate those who are struggling too with accomplishing their goals because the struggle is always real but with this speech and video maybe it will boost up their confidence and helps
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will”. Being a football coach requires someone who can be a great communicator. This person needs to understand communication on both sides an individual can not just demand that it's a one way street where you talk and athletes listen. The career of coaching requires history of the game knowledge of the game, extensive education, and positive and negatives aspects of the game.
I was one of the three girls competing from my high school and the pressure I felt was immense since it was our second track meet and the running coach expected all of us to beat our personal records. The catch was that our school did not have enough funding to hire a coach for the Girls Throwing team and we all learned how to throw from YouTube videos and girls from other schools. When we finally arrived at our pit we scoped out the competition. Consequently, it added more stress on us because one of the girls had bigger biceps than our male sprints coach: it was terrifying! Another one of the teammates from that school was completing her practice throws and she threw 100 feet easy
The location for the football stadium is not in the best location. The area the football stadium is placed on campus affects many students. whether students live right next to the stadium or on the opposite side of the campus. For those students who live right next to the facility they are exposed to many obnoxious noise especially during football season. From both the games and the pedestrian traffic who came to support the game. Not only do residents who live the dormitories right next to the stadium hear all the ruckus from the games but hey also hear the speaker test to make sure the speakers are working properly during the game which often happen late at night. Not only do the residents have to deal with racket the football stadium creates
