Imagine someone who is sitting at a grocery store.After shopping they decide to buy a snack.They look at the food label to make sure there are no peanuts.The food label says nothing so they go ahead and munch away.That is the last thing they remember as they wake up in the emergency room.This situation shows the reality of poor food labeling and the severe effects it can have.Many food labels contain false or inadequate information.It could be argued that food labels should not be a list.However, food companies should be required to label everything that goes into their products. First of all, food companies should be required to label if their foods are made with genetically modified (GMO) ingredients.To start off, we have not yet determined if GMO foods are safe.These foods could be causing diseases and without labeling, consumers will not know which foods contain GMOs. Next, without proper labeling, linking GMO foods to diseases is extremely difficult. If the U.S does not label foods that contain GMOs we may never …show more content…
