Weight and Activity Level I consumed 689 calories during the three-day study diet. My DRI (Daily Recommended Intake) is 2,207 calories. I believe that I consumed more than 689 calories during all of the three days combined. My first day, June 15, I added up the calories of the foods I had for lunch and they totaled at 972 calories; it was only for one meal and it is 283 calories over the number of calories iProfile indicated that I consumed for the whole three days . My energy balance on iProfile correctly calculated the total calories I consumed throughout the three days but my average intake is still 689. I think the possible errors in the records is that some foods that I entered isn’t the exact food brand that I consumed. The Chicken …show more content…
The biggest factory that affects my food intake is ethnicity. I’m Filipino and in my culture, we consume rice everyday. Rice is me and my family’s staple food. My mom would always cook Filipino and non Filipino dishes. For lunch and dinner, we would have side dishes that we would eat with rice. The side dishes can be fish, homemade cultural dishes, chicken, or take out dishes. What’s good about some of the dishes is that they contain vegetables.
What influences my food choices are taste satisfaction and satiety. I would normally eat foods that I know will satisfy me in taste. Most of the time if it’s delicious, then it’s unhealthy. Some of the comfort foods I love are burgers, fries, pizza, and chicken wings, I would consume these comfort foods about once every other week. I’m not picky when eating food but as much as possible, I want the foods I eat to taste delicious. After I eat delicious foods, even the unhealthy ones, I would have that happy feeling. I also choose foods I know will make me feel full because if i’m not full, I would eat until I am full. Once I am full, I will stop eating because it’s harmful to my health if I overeat. While taking this Nutrition course, i’ve been making small changes of reducing my race for lunch and dinner, drinking more water, consuming less sugar, and limiting

I’m more satisfied with eating delicious but unhealthy foods even though i’m aware that it’s bad for me. I also consume sugary drinks because I like the juicy and sweet taste. My weaknesses in my exercise habits is that it’s not consistent. For changing my level of fitness, I could take a 30-45 minute walk from Sunday to Wednesday in the afternoons. I could walk as far as I can go from my house then I would also have exercise walking back to my house. In between my walks, I can lightly jog to make it just a little intense. At my house, I can do stretches and squats every day for about 20 minutes. I know that I don’t have to go on an intense exercise program just to get the exercise I need. The simplest exercises such as taking a walk will improve my health.
For changing my diet, I could eat fruits and eat healthy crunchy snacks instead of eating cookies for snacks. I would eat snacks once a day. Having fruits I like such as strawberries and apple slices as snacks would be a healthier option. Instead of munching on chips and cookies, I could eat crunchy food such as cashews, veggie chips, trail mix, and baked chips. At restaurants, I can choose the salad option instead of the soup because there are more vegetables in
The human body is like a machine that needs fuel to be able to accomplish certain tasks. Too much fuel or to little fuel can have a great impact on how the machine runs. Food is the fuel that runs the human body. Making the right food choices is crucial to a person’s health. Making unhealthy food choices can lead to the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes or cancer. Along with making the right food choices, it is also important to eat those foods in proper portions. Every person is different, so their portions will also be different. There are several factors that influence a person to eat food. Such as hunger, emotions, environment, availability, family and many more.
All three of the characters in the stories including Farah Ahmedi, Walt Masters, And Bilbo Baggins undertook their goals and missions by never giving up and to help the other people around them like Ghulam Ali in the story "The other side of the sky" Ghulam saw that Farah and her mother were in need of getting across the border so he helped them when they were in need of help. Bilbo in the "Hobbit" went on a dangerous journey to help the dwarfs get their home back and Walt in the "King of Mazy May" stopped the men from jumping his neighbors claim even though he was anxious at first but he felt like he should have did something to help. First, Farah Ahmedi and her mother were desperate to get across the border but regrettably people were paying the guards in desperation to let people pass by
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.
Compared to the recommendations that I received from the Food Guide Pyramid, I would say that my diet is not where it is supposed to be. To gain a healthy lifestyle and to reach the specific targets for the main food groups on (Super Tracker , 2015). There is a lot of work that must be done. According to the Food Guide Pyramid my meals over the three day period exceeded the amount of calories that I should have eaten. I know that this is true because out of the three days I had McDonald’s for lunch twice. I know that eating fast food is a bad habit of mine and is one if the main reason why I cannot maintain a healthy lifestyle.
A healthy diet may help to prevent certain chronic long-term conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and may reduce the risk of developing certain cancers. Nutrition information offers a public health tool that could be used to promote informed consumer choice and aid consumption of a healthy diet. However millions of women chose to take dietary supplements to maintain good health, ease illnesses and defy ageing. Supplements are also used as a medication in women with decreased iron stores, because of menses and pregnancies (Anderson & Fitzgerald, 2010). The main aim of the research project is to explore the motivations surrounding the use of nutritional information among young women and relate this information to the choice to use supplements. This is important to women’s health and the topic of nutrition as a large amount of money is spent on both food and supplements. When nursing patients with a wide range of different conditions nutrition is the foundation of all treatment. It also reduces mortality, relapses and subsequent hospital admissions. The complexity of this subjective person and objective body aligned philosophically as interpretivism and positivism respectively reinforces the importance of both qualitative and quantitative approaches contributing to understanding of this (Gerrish and Lacey 2006). Nutrition is also crucial in health and social policy financially through reduction in readmissions which will reduce costs for practice as obesity and poor diet cost the NHS billions of pounds every year (Department Of Health, 2013).
It is day one of your weight lifting program and you are ready to start your body transformation. It is the best workout out there, but with all of this searching for a workout plan, do you have a solid nutrition plan? Nutrition is not only 90% of the battle when it comes to improving all the aspects of health and fitness. It can be the ultimate reason why you may not be seeing any results. Trust me, when I say that iit has taken me years to figure out what foods, how much to eat, and how often to eat. What makes this challenging is everybody is different. What may work for you may not work for me. Some people can get away with eating crap and not gain an ounce but with me if I have a piece of cake, I will gain 5 lbs. I am a creature
All throughout my life I have never had to watch my weight or worry about my eating habits. I have always been able to eat all kinds of different foods unhealthy or healthy it never mattered because of my high metabolism. I never stopped to think of the effects or the problems I could obtain over time if I kept eating the same way. However, after being deeply affected by this semester by my own food journal, The Food Inc. movie, and The Eater Reader I now have a better sense of wisdom and better understanding of the types of foods I was putting into my body, and have stopped drinking carbonation but with the lack of time I will not be able to give up my eating habits up.
Maintaining a healthy diet has many positives that go along with it. Like me, when I eat healthy, I feel more energized and more motivated to accomplish everyday tasks. Though feeling fit and motivated is important, for some, the main concern is their appearance, which is normal; but they do not understand that nutrition is the main contributor to weight lose. By eating clean, one will become the desired shape they strive for. As gym owner and personal trainer, Joe Howard, says, “Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.” This goes to show that even if one goes to the gym and pushes themselves to the limit, they will not end up with their desired figure if they do not eat healthy. Other than appearance, there are many positives that come from eating healthy. In an article about why proper nutrition is important, Case Western University lists many positives such as; the delay of aging, boosting of the immune system, limit tiredness and fatigue, and even enhance one’s ability to concentrate and alter mood (Why is Proper 1). These are just some of the rewards from eating clean. In order to maintain these benefits, it is important to understand what to fuel one’s body with and the reasoning behind
...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.

To survive in life we need to consume food whether it is for nutritional value or for the pure enjoyment of its savory taste. Individuals, not the government, have the right to choose what and when to eat; but good nutrition is important to maintain health and live a long and happy life. People need to make choices everyday about what they put into their bodies. Without proper nutrition, our bodies may not be able to function correctly. Most adults know what is good and bad for the body. We all know that diets rich in fruits and vegetables fuel the body in a healthy way and that protein gives us energy. Although we know what food is best for our bodies, each individual has a personal choice of what they put into their bodies and that should not be dictated by the government, even though
After looking at my food diary and seeing how I did, I think I could probably use more calories than I am getting. It is not that I am getting way too little calories, but I could probably use another thousand calories everyday to maintain my weight. If I were trying to lose weight I would need to eat the amount of calories I am currently eating, but since that is not the case I need to be eating more calories. I should be consuming about 2,500 calories a day. The total average of my calories eaten during out three day food diary was 1,468 calories, which is almost a thousand calories less than what I should be consuming. I do eat very healthy, I had a good balance of nutrients most days. Overall, I ate healthily, but I could most certainly use some more calories.
Health, nutrition and fitness are the three interrelated areas that determine an individual's sense of happiness and well being.
Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
