The educational setting for Bailey‘s1 presentations took place in a brightly lit classroom full of kindergartners. Within this setting, there were vast amounts of child friendly picture posted on the wall and floor, pictures of food items were attached to the wall, including colorful cakes. The students were sitting in a circle while the nutrition educator (Bailey S) began her presentation. The teaching objectives were to educate the children about the proper nutritional foods to eat that is based on the five food groups. According to Bailey,1 the five food groups consist of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains, and proteins. The background in the video showed numbers spreading across the top of the white/smart board, and cursive alphabets below the numbers. The teaching objectives for this group of children were to educate them on the proper nutritional foods to eat based on the five food groups, vitamins from the various food groups, and engaging in proper amount of exercise. According to Goodwin,1, 2 the five food groups consist of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, whole grain, and protein. Goodwin’s food group presentation was also based on “choosemyplate.gov.”1, 2 The educational strategies Goodwin employed include,1, 2 a smart board/green board that was not connected to a desktop computer, computer pictures of the five food groups on the board, and children swimming for amusement and exercise. Some strategies used to keep the children engaged included encouraging the students to raise their hands, waiting to be called upon to answer questions, prompting the children to clap their hand if they liked a picture, recognized a food item, or agreed with the presenter. If the children disagreed or did not like a food item picture, they were supposed to place their thumbs in a downward motion. The students were placed into groups when answering some of the questions and they had to write their answer on the paper provided and hold the paper above their heads. These strategies were successful. I do not believe there was a post-evaluation of information presented. However, what the presenter did was pass stickers out to children and allowed them to be photographed with her. Some of the things the presenter did well include using a projected voice tone, making eye contact, making the children feel accepted through positive engagement, provided the children the opportunity to be photographed with her, and presented each child with a sticker (positive
