Assignment 2: Food Diary Currently, we have a very automated and mechanized food system. This system consists of many chemical and heavily processed foods. This is unhealthy, but it is used most nevertheless. Thus, this paper shall explore the origins, factors, and impacts that influence what we eat.
Why did I Eat it? Personally, I eat what I eat for the convenience of time. Between school and work, I cannot take hours to prepare and cook a meal or learn due to the amount of studying we need to do. Thus, I use the convenience of fast food and pre-processed junk into order to suppress my hunger. I know this is not good for me, but it is more adaptable to my lifestyle and allows the continuation of my activities without interference. The presence of fast food allows the ability to eat on the go and at any location, which is helpful as I need to move around a lot to complete my task and as I am a mobile person. I found that many processed items such as pop may say that it is produced within the country but it has a wider footprint as the ingredients themselves as sourced from other countries (Figure 2). The food tracker benefited me in so many ways. I total three days out and all calculated 4800 calories. The food tracker allowed me only 2000 calories a day and wanted me to target at least 150 min/week in physical activity. The recommendations for my calories were very direct and limited to only a certain amount that I could manage. It help me manage my daily food intake, inform me of the calories and fats I was placing into my body, and educated me on the need foods needed from the food pyramid.
