Methods: Sample: Study population will be consisted of undergraduate student volunteers who will participate in the fall session of Fit Families for Life. Recruitment: “Fit Families for Life” is a life style intervention program that is directed by Peter Morelli, MD of Columbia University and Sharon Martino, PT, PhD, of Stony Brook University. This program has a website and also flyers are distributed before the start of each session. As this program is managed by a faculty member of Stony Brook University so other health sciences faculty members also advertise about this program through emails so that more students are aware about it. Students have to attend an orientation before the start so that they can get an idea of the program and about their roles. Schmiede in his paper ,” Using Focus Groups in Service-Learning: Implications for Practice and Research”, said that, “Focus groups have the potential to provide an effective way to increase reflection and facilitate learning in the service-learning context. Analysis of focus group transcripts allows service-learning faculty and coordinators to gain insight into a group's level of critical thinking in the context of a particular issue; or if data are separated into individual responses then individuals' levels of critical thinking can be analyzed”. The data collected by using focus group can be utilized to inform the objectives and practices of course and addresses any gaps in the service
At the beginning of the semester, I did not know what the "Service Learning and Social work Practice" course mean. However, through the process, with the accompaniment of Professor Preeti Charania, I understood the course and noticed a lot of transformation in me through the semester. The following are some of the changes and growth I have seen in me from class readings, discussions, group works, and working with the Church World Service (CWS) agency.

The 15-Minute Family Interview includes the five key steps of applying good manners, setting up a therapeutic conversation with a family, completing a genogram and ecomap, asking several therapeutic questions, and offering commendations (Wright & Leahey, 1999). Along with several components of the 15-minute interview, the Friedman Family Assessment Model explains type of family, cultural background, Religion, social class status and social class mobility. The genogram, ecomap and interview guide created for this assignment are included in this paper as appendix A, appendix B, and appendix C, respectively.
As a student, practice is crucial to learn group therapy techniques. In order to achieve these practices, I attended 2 support groups of the same topic. Observation and attendance constructs an idea of how group therapy works. Attending this group was important because of the profoundness of its meaning and experiences I have witnessed.
There are many intervention strategies a family health nurse can employ to improve or promote the health of a family. A nurse can use their skills and knowledge to maximize the health of a family by providing guidance that will encourage families to value the benefits of health promotion into their daily lives (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, & Hanson, 2015). Positive life changes occur when one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are guided along a pathway that leads to success and accomplishment. This discussion post will explain the major point of the family meal and healthier eating. Specific nursing interventions will help a family that is in need of developing and practicing health-promoting practices.
In order for children to achieve wellness, they are completely dependent upon the adults in their lives: parents, caregivers, friends, and teachers. In order to achieve wellness, teachers and caregivers must model and exhibit appropriate behaviors, i.e. exercise, healthy eating habits, personal hygiene, emotional fulfillment, and knowledge of healthy habits. Children begin learning this at home first with their parents/caregivers. Teachers are the next important person in a child’s life to help them achieve wellness (Sorte, et al., 2011). It is imperative for teachers and families to work together in order to achieve wellness for children.

Following participation in an Engaged Department Institute sponsored by Campus Compact, a service-learning requirement was instituted for all majors in the department studied beginning Fall 2002. All faculty were encouraged to incorporate service-learning in their courses. A training session on service-learning was the centerpiece of a departmental retreat in January 2002. In order to develop closer relationships with community agencies, the department hosted a faculty-partnership luncheon the following fall semester. Potential community partners were invited to meet with faculty in an effort to forge new relationships with the University. In order to institutionalize service-learning, all recruitment advertisements specifically mention service-learning and all new hires are expected to include service-learning components in their courses. As a consequence of these efforts, this department has gone from teaching only a few courses with service-learning components to offering twenty five different classes (thirteen courses) by Fall 2002.
It is through these resources that an individual or family gets the help required to overcome their health care obstacles. This approach understands that family is a small segment of a larger group and that these segments interact on an ongoing basis. This approach is mainly used in the community nurse setting.

The following family life education Program will emphasize on Parent Education and Guidance. The project will likewise focus on varying child rearing styles and practices; how parents treat their kids can influence their present and the future life, and also the program will concentrate on parent/kid connections and child rearing styles. Upon reading the focus groups quotes given at the meeting with Ms. Jones, I was able to distinguish some quotes that dealt with ethnographic factors. In the text it states that ethnographic factors are those that provide specific information about the culture norms, rituals and other aspects of daily life. A norm is a standard of social behavior, which is expected of a group. Rituals is a type of behavior regularly or invariably followed by someone. In this particular program some of the focus group quotes could influence Ms. Jones program’s success. Among the quotes I felt that quote numbers 1,3,4, 5,6, 8, and 9 are quotes that dealt with ethnographic factors. All several of these quotes could help Ms. Jones understand how the individuals feel about diabetes and the initiatives to bring forth the type 2 diabetes health program. The quotes provided are not judgmental but they are descriptive. Individuals view their environment as one that needs to be educated about type 2 diabetes but there have been some problems that hinder the success of other programs and initiatives. These several quotes could be a factor to Ms. Jones program because now

The school has family nights, which include healthy cooking demonstrations, dance and exercise classes, and other family building activities.
