Fluorescents Light Bulbs
For beautiful views, buildings lighting up in the night, and even shows that rely on special effects so the programs can go on; all of these things and more are possible because of lights! Although fluorescent light bulbs are inexpensive and provide good lighting, they may have serious negative effects on a person’s eyes after prolonged use. It is amazing how the use of fluorescent light bulbs has become so popular and taken the world by storm. Whether it is in offices, businesses or even at home, these light bulbs are replacing the regular more expensive bulbs. People are deciding to switch and use these bulbs because they are inexpensive. This inexpensive price is one thing that attracts consumers, but the lighting from these bulbs speaks for itself. They give off superior lighting and brighten up a room in a way that other light bulbs fail to do so (Peterson 1).
The background of fluorescent lighting started back in the 1927 when Frederick Meyers, Hans, Spanner and Edmund Germer, (who at the time were employees of a German firm located in Berlin), patented a fluorescent lamp (Potash 1). This was thought to be one of the best ideas at that time because of the way these were made; unlike others, fluorescent bulbs are coated on the inside to increase efficiency. When they were first invented, beryllium (a gray-white metallic element that is light, hard, brittle, and resists corrosion) was used as the coating for the bulbs (Parker 58), however beryllium turned out to be toxic and was replaced with safer fluorescent chemicals.

Fluorescence measurement provides very important information about the photochemistry of a particular molecule. The first part of this experiment was dealing with the fluorescence behavior of a Leucophor PAF. Glow sticks were first made in the 1960s when a scientist, Edwin Chandross tried to copy fireflies. He thought it was fascinating how they gave off a natural light. He made the first glow stick from oxalyl chloride and hydrogen peroxide. Since Edwin’s invention many scientist after made improvements to the invention. The United States Navy worked on creating glow sticks independently and received a patent in 1973. Glow sticks started to become popular in the 1980s and since then are still very popular today. The largest glow stick was made in 2009 and was 8ft 4 inches tall. Glow sticks can be used for entertainment when dancing they are very popular for raves, parties, night clubbing, special events etc. glow sticks are the safest light sources in emergencies, They are used because they are very efficient and do not require any batteries or electricity. Glow sticks are portable and waterproof can bear high pressure situations and that is why military forces and campers use them and have them on hand.
Neon was discovered in 1898 by British chemists Sir William Ramsay and Morris W. Travers as a component of the most volatile fraction of liquefied crude argon obtained from air. Upon applying an electric current to it, the chemists found that it had an orange glow, and they decided that it was not argon, but rather a new element altogether.

However, since they had to make light sticks by hand, it was harder for them to produce very many of them. It significantly change people lives all over the world. The born of light bulb also helped us by making more inventions that related to light, such as phones, televisions, and computes. By using light bulb, we actually reduced the probability of having fire accidents because if we don’t have light bulb, we will use candles instead which can cause fire easily.
