One of the oldest types of conflict in literature is the flight. It can be metaphorical flight, such as to escape a painful memory, or physical flight, such as from an attacker. In any novel, either a flight or a fight is the reaction to danger. In Station Eleven, however, Mandel uses flights not just as reactions to danger - they also become the cause of conflict. By doing this, this story is able to have a chain of conflict causing flight to flight causing conflict.
In the short stories "Flight", “A Drug Called Tradition”, as well as the novel Flight by Sherman Alexie, there are some ideas that can be seen in all three of the sources. Hiding is a main idea, whether it be from reality, identity or other things. “Flight” is the story of a young kid named John-John, John-John has spared $600 for his future, in spite of the fact that he doesn't know what he wants to do with it yet. His oldest sibling, Joseph, who is a military pilot was caught in war and has not been heard from since. John-John remembers Joseph's inspirational state of mind and delightful singing and moving. He wanders off in a fantasy land about every which way Joseph might get back home. The most awful of these fantasies is the one in which
“Attack” shows, there is always a way to survival. This is true when the mom believes there are survivors, also when they go into the woods and don’t give up looking for survivors, and most of all, when the mom and brother Johnny come back with two rooster survivors. I have learned that, if you believe sometimes something wonderful can always happen. One of the main struggles in the world is it is very hard to survive for some people but, many people can pull through. As Carl Sagan says “Extinction is the rule. Survival is the exception.” This story has helped me realize, that life can be hard sometimes but you just have to pull through. Now I would like to go out, and give people shelter and food to help them

Did you know that many airplanes crash every year and it is not an uncommon occurrence. Most plane crashes are either caused by mechanical failure or by pilots. Depending on the severity of the crash usually shows the outcome of survivors. Out of almost all of the flights that have crashed this year, a flight now only known as Flight 370 was very unusual. On March 8, 2014, a tragic event has happened. An airliner that departed from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing had mysteriously disappeared. The plane was a Malaysia Airlines flight numbered 370 that carried 239 passengers. The plane model used by almost all airlines was a Boeing 777. The plane was heading north towards Beijing when the plane turned around

Critique of “First Flight” The “First Flight” is an excellent short story that made pathos for the reader to portray in the life of an everyman who has to deal with exclusion and people’s bad choices. Gregory is an 18 year old who just wants to be sociable but everyone just shuts him out and doesn’t pay attention to him. He stops in a train station to warm up and is ridiculed on a false accusation of stealing a pilot uniform. W.D Valgardson perfectly shows both of the main themes.

Would you ever risk your life for strangers you don’t know? Would you save them over yourself, even when you know you wouldn’t survive? Well, that’s what one man on flight 90 did in the year 1982. Roger Rosenblatt wrote an article for Time Magazine explaining the actions this man took. Disasters can be strange, bring out the best in people, and show the connection between nature and man.
They lived in New Orleans where a big hurricane had struck, it killed and hurt many people but this family lived, but they need all the help they can get to survive. Troy Williams, he is a father, he is 46 years old, but has a common disease, cancer. His wife, Andrea Williams had “owed $15,000 to the hospital for Troy’s first round of cancer treatments”. The family didn’t have that much money to pay that kind of bill. Andrea had posted a picture of her family on a website called “Families in need”. Then had “set up a fundraising page” for Troy, to raise the money they had to pay the hospital, and they hoped for money and prayers. “ ‘Are they sending us anything yet?’ he asked, even though he already knew the answer. Andrea opened a new page of Candy Crush and washed down a Xanax for her anxiety. ‘ You can bet they’re sending us prayers, she said. ‘You know they're real generous with that.” This is showing that there are some people in this world that don’t have anything to waste on them. Meaning the people don’t want to help them, just because they are different color, doesn’t mean they don’t have to help

As I walked into the long hall, I glanced up and noticed the sign telling me I could get on. My entire body could barely hold itself together with the anticipation of the monumental, dream-come-true event about to take place. I said to myself, "I'll soon be in the air." I slowed my pace to further enjoy what was happening. Swarms of people walked around me as I treasured knowing that one of my lifetime goals was now inevitably going to occur. The excitement and adrenaline running through my veins could have killed a horse.
“Goodbye, Tom! I'll see you in three days. I love you.” The woman said, standing at the doorway as her husband slowly backed out of the driveway. The feeling over loneliness immediately washed over her, and she began reminding herself that he'd only be gone a few days before he'd be back home to his loving family.
