 One of the first robots that was ever made was the robot Clepsydra, or water clock, which was made in 250 B.C. It was created by Ctesibius of Alexandria, A Greek physicist and inventor. Back to the modern world, the first remote control vehicles were built by Nikola Tesla in the 1890's. Tesla is best known as the inventor of AC alectric power, radio (before Marconi), induction motors and Tesla coils, and other electrical devices. Some of the other early robots

The walking truck was the first legged vehicle with a computer-brain, developed by Ralph Moser at General Electric corp. in the 1960s. Joe Engleberger started the first robotics company called “Unimation”, and has been called the “father of robotics.”
Police now need certain types of robots for bomb-disposal and for bringing video cameras and microphones into dangerous areas, where a human policeman might get hurt or killed. The military also uses robots for locating and destroying mines on land and in water, entering enemy bases to gather information, and for spying on enemy troops.
Our robot which we call our “Bomb Bo,t” is a prototype that can be used for a police bomb squad to retrieve any suspicious object that may be considered a bomb. Our robot is just a model of what can turn out to be a very use full and very cost effective tool to any police squad.
The two basic machines that are at work in the robot are the wheel and axil (gears), and the lever.
The roots of the machine go back to at least the fifth century B.C. in China. In its most primitive form, it consisted of a pivoted beam with a sling at one end and ropes at the other. A stone would be placed in the sling and a team of men would haul the ropes, swinging the beam up into the air”1.
Police Body Cameras Due to devastating events that have occurred between policemen and civilians, law enforcements find it liable for police officers to be fitted with body cameras. In doing so it is thought to bring an increase in trust in the community, reduce brutality and crime, as well as elucidate good cops still around. I feel body cameras will bring more awareness to police departments when it comes to the honesty in their staff’s actions when they are unsupervised. They can be used as hard evidence in courtrooms, to help make the correct judgment on the situation in question.
Tesla’s career as an inventor started when he was in his late twenties. He displayed his incredible understanding of electricity and physics when he created his first invention, the induction motor. The induction motor is a small, electric motor that has become a very useful machine. In fact, most household appliances run using Tesla’s induction motor (Vujovic 1). Score one for Tesla. Soon after he invented the induction motor, Tesla moved to America to try his luck at living the American dream. While in New York City, Tesla got the amazing opportunity to work for his hero, Thomas Edison. However, Tesla soon quit working for Edison due to some disagreements between the two inventors. And so with Edison and his men biting at Tesla’s heels, Nikola set out on his own to make a name for himself (Vujovic 1). Tesla soon became Edison’s greatest competitor. While tinkering in his lab with one of his inventions called the Tesla Coil, Tesla discovered that he could send and receive radio signals when his coils were tuned to the exact same frequency...

Tesla left his path of becoming a teacher to further study and create a design of building a spark free motor. He went into the engineering curriculum the second year at Joenneum. He began by using his imagination as a tool to start the brushless motor. He thought about how a DC machine is similar to a gramme dynamo, and “decided to use AC as the solution.
He thought the only thing missing from it was basically a receiver. But his Tesla coils helped him bring about the invention of electrical lighting, his very used and widely-known x-ray, electrotherapy, and as I have previously stated, this was his first step at trying to receive energy from the earth. Today, the Tesla coil is used for amusement and in some cases, it is used to identify leaks in a vacuum system. So how does the Tesla coil work? They start off with a simple spark to set it off.

He came up with the idea of many useful inventions: direct current, wireless communication and the radio controlled robot. Although he is not credited for most of his inventions, the ideas that he brought to life have changed the way we live. When Tesla stepped foot in New York he came with the idea of alternating current, drawing his idea in the sand.
The history of engineering goes back into the 19th century when Alexander Volta (1745-1827) made a remarkable discover regarding the nature of electricity (Cosgrove 749). He discovered that electrical current could be controlled and could flow from one point to another. By the time the mid-19th century came about the rules for electricity were being established. During this time electromagnetic induction was discovered by Michael Faraday who lived from 1791 to 1867 (749). Also during this time Samuel Morris invented the telegraph in 1837 which relies on the principles of electromagnetic induction (749). Alexander Graham Bell, who lived from 1847 to 1922, created the telephone which also uses electricity in order to operate (749). Through the success of the telephone, Bell Telephone Company was established. In 1878, the light bulb was finally invented by Thomas Edison who lived from 1847 to 1931 (749). Off the principles of Faraday’s electric motor from 1821, Nicholas Tesla invented a more efficient and powerful electric motor in 1888 (749). To make these inventions be more significant, effort was expended to make better motors and transformers and to enhance the power needed to make them function. Through these inventions during the middle 19th century, it led to the capability of lighting homes and cities through the use of electricity, and it also led to the creation of the telephone communication system (750).
The idea behind robots and their uses has been a compilation of thoughts stewing in the minds of engineers and physicists from as early as the 1700. The first representations of these creations was in the textile production industry; i.e. Hargreaves’ spinning jenny around 1770 and Cropmton’s mule spinner that came around 1779. Once these ideas were put into action, the robot development seed was planted and its roots spread into the minds of many potential engineers. This ventured into the development of Numerical Control (NC) and Telecherics technologies in the robotic field. John Parson’s Numerical Control is a system that integrated numbers as a tool to control the machine/robot’s actions, and this led to the creation of a prototype at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952. Soon after, a Programming language involving sequential paper punching, known as APT (Automatically Programmed Tooling) was developed to accompany the NC on its machine-controlling journey.
There are plenty of new technologies and devices that law enforcement uses that have its good and bad issues. For instance using the drones, has its good and bad. Using the drones in the city environment can cause issues. The drones could certainly get caught up in the wire that are up in the air. This would cause outages or even start electrical issues in neighborhoods.
In 1831, using his "induction ring", Faraday made one of his greatest discoveries - electromagnetic induction: the "induction" or generation of electricity in a wire by means of the electromagnetic effect of a current in another wire. The induction ring was the first electric transformer. In a second series of experiments in September he discovered magneto-electric induction: the production of a steady electric current. To do this, Faraday attached two wires through a sliding contact to a copper disc. By rotating the disc between the poles of a horseshoe magnet he obtained a continuous direct current. This was the first generator. From his experiments came devices that led to the modern electric motor, generator and transformer.
