The cold air brisked my face bringing me back to reality, where was I? The last I remembered I was next to my brothers, my partners, my family and now I was here standing in a dense forest area. I spun around trying to pinpoint my destination, but it was all dark green trees. Another breeze of air brought me back to the roots of the situation and to say the least it was chilling. Transportation or something had to be used, I'm not all that well with figuring these kinds of scientific phenomenons out, that's what Kowalski was for.
“hello! Anyone?” I shouted out only to be returned with a few chirps from birds. Let me retrace my steps, we were on a mission, an important one in fact, so important North wind decided to help us, I believe Marlene

They were small about the size of hyena’s but they were so many of them, dozens upon dozens growling and snarling. They almost seemed to be figureless but once in the slight light of the fire they had spiked hair on their back with large claws and teeth shown very widely. I looked back to see one approaching but stopping once seeing the fire, going around the loop of the lights surrounding the fire That gave me an idea. I strung my bow around my shoulder once again running over and grabbing a stick containing the fire and waving it around the odd creatures taking a step back at they barked and growled. I stepped forward a group of them backing away. What I didn’t expect was one from behind quickly nipping grabbing onto my arm holding the fire. Once my arm was pulled down the fire faced him and he let go. I let out a small hiss holding the now bleeding arm. Blood and hanging skin were covered by my jacket as I felt the warm burning of my arm as it shook. But it would have to wait. I swung around the fire making sure I was always circling, facing them. My breath was shaky and nervous, making Eliza even more nervous as she dug her fingernails into my leg. I wasn’t sure what to do. They kept coming as I waved the fire in their faces. They would back up nervously. It was an endless cycle. I looked back to the fire approaching it and holding another stick, this time a few collapsing with it’s absence I winced as a few falling sticks burned my hand as I retracted, but I grabbed another stick free of fire and waved it around the others growling and hissing as they backed away. I threw over the stick the fire catching a bit of the grass on fire as the creatures back away once again. I continued throwing fire filled sticks until we got a decent way, away from the creatures. It stopped when they all lost interest looking at the one side in the same direction towards the top of the
In the start of Fahrenheit 451, Montag’s thoughts are that fire is good for society. He burns books for a living, and never thought twice about doing his job. That is until he meets characters such as Clarisse, Beatty, and the academics. Montag’s understanding of the nature of fire changes as he becomes enlightened through his relationships.
Disasters can be so impactful; some can forever change the course of history. While many at the time thought this story would soon pass, and with it all the potential bad publicity, the story of the Triangle fire spread quickly, and outraged many people. On a beautiful spring day in March 1911 when 146 workers lost their lives, a fire would prove it could do what years of reformers had failed to do, get the government on the side of the workers. I would argue that the fire largely impacted the country. Specifically, the Triangle Fire ended up changing New York’s interconnected political and economic scene, and spurred on the creation of stricter safety codes. For the first time owners would hold responsibility for their actions. Max Blanck and Isaac Harris; being indicted for manslaughter was proof of this. Social change seemed to be spurred as well; the general public and newspapers would come back the workers of New York. Large institutions would suffer as well. Tammany Hall would be feared less and less by waves of new immigrants. The largest change brought about by the blaze would be legislation. Twenty-five bills, recasting the labor laws of the state
I shrieked at them, trying to scare them off, but they merely ducked behind bushes and took long sticks from the saddles of their horses, bows and javelins. … I'd never howled more loudly in my life. Darts like hot coals went through my legs and arms and I howled more loudly still. (27)
The book “Fahrenheit 451,” by Ray Bradbury, is about a man, Guy Montag, who has a job burning books. When he realizes how twisted the world he lives in is, he tries to change it, although he doesn’t really succeed. In the novel, the author uses the metaphor of fire to make the narrative more interesting. When the author uses a fire metaphor, it often seems very exciting and dramatic. Additionally, they are used to show emotion. The metaphors also make the novel feel more violent.
Fire serves as a recurring motif to illustrate the secrets of their restricted society. In the forms eblazoned in their history, there was a time “long ago firemen put fires out instead of going to start them” (6). Long since changed, firemen have become “official censors, judges, and executors”, (56) custodians of peace of mind. Salamanders, creatures adapted to living in extreme environments and also the mascot of the firemen. Bradbury uses the salamander in pair with the hearth to exemplify the home.
In the book “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin, there are many instances in which he uses figurative language to get his point across. This book was Baldwin's reaction to the social and racial shamefulness he saw in America. The use of figurative language allows for a more vivid picture for the audience to visualize in their minds and grasp. Many times Baldwin uses figurative language to create a picture of a concept or opinion of his and instill what he believes it looks or feels like into it. Throughout the writing the author superbly distinguishes that love, not fear, converges a society.
Altho somewhat similar the two stories are very different in many ways. The first story is called “Mystery of Heroism” by Stephen Crane and the other one is “To Build a Fire” by Jack London. Both of the books are part of the short story genre and realism stories. The author's purpose for writing the “Mystery of Heroism” is to tell a story about a brave man who went to get water for a dying man. The purpose for writing “To Build a Fire” is to tell about a man and his dog and how he tried to fight the below freezing temperatures to stay alive. Both authors use realism because they want to tell real stories about people and how they had to overcome struggles in their lifetime. These two stories have similarities but they are way more different than anything else. One of the stories is about a man who has to overcome fear to get water for a man.
The red hot fury consuming me now was enough to contradict the surrounding fire. Running towards him, he ducks
A: The film begins with a fire. It narrates the story of men running from a fire when, suddenly, one of the men stop and sets fire to the ground in front of him and the steps into the new safety zone he had just created. The term for his discovery became known as an escape fire. The directors used the idea of an escape fire as a metaphor for our health care system. Currently, our health care system is like a raging fire. The consuming flames of rising costs and a “disease maintenance” mind-set are about to consume our country and we must find a way out, an escape fire, before we perish. Like the men running away from the eminent death by the flames, we as a nation are sprinting towards
A shrill cry echoed in the mist. I ducked, looking for a sign of movement. The heavy fog and cold storm provided nothing but a blanket, smothering all sight and creating a humid atmosphere. The freezing air continued to whip at my face, relentless and powerful. Our boat, stuck in the boggy water. Again a cry called. Somewhere out there was someone, or something.
Far away, so very far away from their destination, the three were nearly kidding back in the wind and ice. The two who were actually doing all the walking had finally lost feeling in every part of their exposed bodies. The dreaming boy, however, they did not know. Kile had checked for a heartbeat a little while ago, and found it, but how much longer that would last, he had no idea.
The interactions between the 2 main characters In this short story (To Build a Fire) there are 3 characters which consist of 2 primary characters and 1 secondary character. It may seem unexpected but the companion of the man is the secondary character while the man and the environment he is in play the roles of the 2 main or primary characters. The man can be seen as very arrogant and ignorant to his surroundings. While the environment around him can be seen as an antagonist that eventually brings him down.
A city near a frozen ocean was covered by a firewall, the firewall was managed by the last fire archmage, he was a very old man and he knew his time was coming. He looked outside from his castle and noticed a snowstorm coming to the city's way, he rushed outside and prepared to defend the city. People started to gather around, they all wanted to watch the fire archmage cast spells. The snowstorm hit his firewall and the firewall started to disappear but he cast more fire magic and the firewall was barely enough to block the snowstorm but an ice shard pierced the firewall and hit the archmage's heart, he was dead and his firewall started to fade away, all of the citizens froze to death.
Today is the day! I finally got to go to a fire scene! My first fire scene! And it was a fatal fire scene! I know it is wrong to be happy that not only did someone’s house burn but also that someone died while it was happening, but it means that I can actually take what I have been learning and finally incorporate it into real life.
