This film was made in 2016 and was directed by Ben Younger, who also wrote the screenplay and story. Miles Teller portrays the aforementioned Pazienza and is joined by Aaron Eckhart, who plays Kevin Rooney, Vinny’s new trainer and former trainer of Mike Tyson, as well as Ciaran Hinds, who plays Angelo Pazienza, Vinny’s father and coach. (Fraser-Thomas, lecture 6.1, slide 15, 2017) The direction of effort refers to an individual and whether they seek out, approach or get attracted by certain situations. When someone is highly motivated, they will do anything to pursue something that brings them closer to the end goal. When Vinny loses his first fight to Mayweather, he seeks help from the famous Kevin Rooney. Instead of sulking after the loss, he does what he can to better himself and he does so by hiring an even better trainer. Vinny’s intense focus and effort shows through his training, especially when he was injured. Even when he was not fighting, Vinny would take notes of his boxing matches and replay them repeatedly. This intense focus is also evident in the scene where the doctor removes the screws from his head. Vinny intends to get the procedure done without the use of anaesthetics because he claims to have never done any kind of drug because it would negatively affect his performance and it would be against who he was. Even though it would cause him excruciating pain, Vinny went through it because to him, taking any kind of drug would violate his moral values. Through this, Vinny portrays another concept that Dr. Fraser-Thomas refers to as identified regulation, which is defined as actions driven by personal importance or values. (Fraser-Thomas, lecture 6.2, slide 18, 2017) Although Vinny did not mind in participating in activities like gambling or going to the strip club, taking drugs, even ones needed for a medical procedure, Vinny held his ground for what he believed was important to

The documentary, The Interrupters, is a film that tells the ongoing journey of three ‘violence interrupters’ who’s goals are to stop and prevent violence from their South Side Chicago, Illinois neighborhoods, which they once took part of. An interesting aspect of this film is that Ameena Matthews, Cobe Williams and Eddie Bocanegra, the three ‘violence interrupters’, reflect on their experiences with violence in the streets of Chicago in order to better help these young men and women avoid the community violence. These three ‘violence interrupters’ work intensely with a number of people (mostly young adults) who are prone to acting out and violent behavior.
It was incredibly difficult to not to pick one of my favorite films for this project, such as A Clockwork Orange, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and Jaws. However, I went out of my comfort zone and picked a genre of film I’ve never become familiar with- Western. The 1974 film Blazing Saddles was a hilarious frontier/Wild West twist about road worker named Bart, played by Cleavon Little, becoming part of character Hedley Lamarr’s (Harvey Korman) evil plan to out-run the small town of Rock Ridge by appointing an African American sheriff to the massly single-minded small town of racist’s. With the plan to destroy the town to make way for a new railroad, Lamarr is convinced that they town would be so appalled that they wouldn’t stand having an
Anyone who has had the chance to read Mary Shelly’s original Frankenstein and watch the movie Young Frankenstein is aware that there is quite a difference when it comes to the two of them. For one it is easy to point out that Young Frankenstein is set out to be a comedy while the original version of Frankenstein is made to be serious. Young Frankenstein is a 1977 film that tells the story of Victor Frankenstein’s grandson. The film adaptation is essentially a parody of the classic tale along with other versions of Frankenstein. It pointed out from the start of the movie that it would run directly parallel with the original tale when Fredrick Frankenstein was mentioned to be the grandson of the infamous Victor
Sex, love, depression, guilt, trust, all are topics presented in this remarkably well written and performed drama. The Flick, a 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Annie Baker, serves to provide a social commentary which will leave the audience deep in thought well after the curtain closes. Emporia State Universities Production of this masterpiece was a masterpiece in itself, from the stunningly genuine portrayal of the characters of Avery and Rose, to the realism found within the set, every aspect of the production was superb.
America has always been depicted as an amiable place to live in. More than often, foreigners would visualize America as the place where neighbors would greet each other in the morning and have their children play in the back yard with the family dog. However, as with most foreigners, this image was shattered by the adverse environment that surrounded them. One of the biggest mistakes that they failed to recognize was the murder of innocent civilians. These murders were almost always published on the front-page of every major newspaper. As such, Americans have always been interested in the death of others. This is true in the ninetieth and, more predominately, twentieth century. As tales of murders got colder and bloodier, Americans had an instinctive
Mike Tyson is one of the most famous boxers in world history, but despite his achievements in the boxing ring, he is infamous for his violent behaviour outside the ring. Havoc is a movie that gives an insight to what it is like for some adolescents. In the movie, the two crucial characters are Allison and Emily. These girls, like almost every other person in this movie, are white upper-class teens who try to emulate gang and street life. They are so eager to experience the street life and would do anything to make it seem as if they are from the hood. They are naïve in some ways, but go to the far extreme to be something that they are not. Even in the beginning of the movie, one can see that Allison, Emily, and their friends have this fascination to appear as if they are from the streets, even though they are well off. After Allison’s boyfriend, Toby, gets threatened by a gang member, Hector, the girls still
The film that is being used for the movie analysis is “Enough”, this movie was chosen due to the fact that it is based on domestic violence towards women. The movie begins with in Los Angeles diner were a waitress named slim works with her best friend Ginny (Kazan, 2002). While working her shift slim has a customer that starts harassing her over the name she has, but the companion of the annoying customer defends slim, which in turn starts a romance, later to become a marriage between the two (Kazan, 2002). The fairy tale becomes a nightmare as time moves forwards for the couple,
From Cowboys and Indians to the United States Cavalry. That’s right, I’m talking about western movies, these movies have it all. Out of all the famous westerns that just about everybody knows, the one that stands out has John Wayne and Montgomery Clift as the two main characters. John Wayne starred in plenty of movies during his acting career, but the best one John Wayne starred in was Red River this movie is also known as The River is Red both were released on September 17, 1948; although most people don’t think of John Wayne as the fatherly type, but reading this just might change their minds.
Many movies based on political or social themes are always special for human perception because they address aspects of life that are rather close to many people. Divided We Fall is one of such movies; it evokes certain feelings and emotions and makes viewers think about very important and valuable things of the human being. Since the main topics of the movie are war, loyalty, friendship, forgiveness, and help, one can state that Divided We Fall is very deep in its sense and shows some vivid situations of human life.
Personality is a branch of scientific discipline that studies temperament and its variation among people. It is a dynamic and a set of characteristics possessed by their atmosphere, cognitions, emotions, motivations and behaviours in various things. Personality conjointly refers to the pattern of thoughts, feelings, social adjustments and behaviour consistently exhibited over time that powerfully influences one’s exceptions, self-perceptions, values and attitudes. It also predicts human reactions to different folks, problems and stress.
While I opened the book and began to read, the first-level reply is given in the first section of the book. It is said that we as a society and human beings lack discipline. When a problem is aroused and present, we as humans fail to confront and face them. We fail to solve our personal problems because it either is too painful, difficult, a time consuming process, or we just fail to do so because of our nature. The first section of this book is a discussion of what discipline is, how a person learns or fails to learn the idea of discipline, and how it applies to the basic problems of livin...
