Film Analysis: The Maze Runner

The movie I chose to write about is called “The Maze Runner” It is about a group of children that get dropped off inside a maze. When they wake up they have no memory of who took them there, or why they are there; They call this place “The Glades.” A new person randomly appears each month to try and pass a test which they are unaware of at the time.
The runners are the children that have to find a way out of the maze. Some of the people have been trying to get out of the maze for three years. After some time they have a few memories that become clear. The people that brought them hear call themselves “Wicked.” Alby is considered an elder, because he has been there the longest. All of the people have their set ways to do things; some are runners

who try to find a way out of the maze. Some are scavengers, gathering food for everyone.
Thomas is the new child brought into the maze. After Alby gets stung by a griever and becomes very ill, Gally becomes in charge of the others. Thomas decides to break the rules and runs into the maze with Minho. Everyone was against this but Thomas knew it was the right thing to do. When they return Thomas must go into the pit for the night for being disobedient. The next morning, Thomas went from a “newbie” to a “runner.” Thomas being a “newbie” has much more ambition than some of the other people. He is still quite unaware of what he is up against. Within his first three days Thomas accomplished something no one else could- he killed one of the grievers. When they go back into the maze to observe the griever they discover some sort of tracker. They decide to take it with them in doing so, they realize they are able to open passages they couldn’t if they didn’t have it. When they arrive back at the glades everyone is shocked at what Thomas and Minho has discovered.
Unfortunately, later that evening the maze entrance didn’t close. Instead it opened on all sides, allowing the grievers to come into the glades. The grievers attacked until they reached Alby, snatched him up then disappeared again. The next morning Thomas starts to remember that he used to work for the people that put everyone there.
