Film Analysis: THe Great Debaters

The purpose of the review assignment for the movie “The Great Debaters” was to allow students to learn how to discuss a point intelligently. When research and facts are presented calmly and logically, it is more easily understood. Changing another person’s opinion on an idea is more likely to happen when there is no conflict or disagreement. The instructor wanted the students to view the difference between aggressive and non-aggressive behavior.
Nursing Problems is the current class in session, which includes an analysis of modern nursing issues and the impact nurses make when resolving any problems concerning patient care. Although there have been many different issues in the past, healthcare is in constant change and there are frequent issues that arise. Therefore, there are two or more sides to every issue. Using statistics and research, “The Great Debaters” movie presented different ways to endorse our opinion when discussing a problem.
There were many inequalities in the history of African Americans, especially during the timeframe of this movie. It appears that those inequalities and injustices were observed by many. The debate team from Wiley College used those experiences and research to present their views in order to persuade others to see a different perspective through their eyes.
Intelligence was a huge driving force for the students at Wiley College. As evidenced by the number of students trying out for the debate team, the students wanted to be recognized for their intelligence. This recognition and the winning of many debates would give much credibility to Wiley College, in turn giving credibility to African American students. ...er to find a result or solution using knowledge or prior experience. On a Likert Scale of 1-5 (1=lowest, 5=highest), I would rank myself on the critical thinking grid at a level 4. As an ICU nurse, I believe that I am well above average with critical thinking skills, especially considering my experience but truly believe that there is always an opportunity to learn.
There are times that my facial expression reveals a disagreeable thought. The perception may allow others to feel hurt. While no harm is intended, it is an area that admittedly needs improvement. However, in reality, much deep thought is being applied to whatever topic was mentioned. Also, there is room for improvement when first impressions are concerned. It is imperative that I realize a beautiful physical appearance is not always a sign of intelligence and some things are not what they seem.
