Titanic movie released in 1997, has been recognized as a masterpiece of an adventurous romantic disaster film by both critics and audiences. The movie explores the sinking theme .The inspiration of the movie came to Cameron’s from ship wrecks which were his fascination. To deliver the emotional message of the disaster a love story interspersed with the human loss would be essential was his feelings. During the shooting of his actual Titanic wreck in 1997 the production of the movie began. In the film history Titanic earned its place as the most nominated movie .The film managed to bring home 11 Oscars from the nomination of the 14 Oscars and No other film in the history had won that many awards .

The diction of “cleaving” (17) suggests that the speaker, at the time of the Titanic’s building, believes the Titanic to be able to sever through all obstacles. However, she immediately juxtaposes it with that “Immanent Will that stirs and urges everything” which “prepared a sinister mate” (18-19). By enjambing the two lines, the speaker foreshadows the surprise of the disaster. The “sinister mate” (19) alludes to the iceberg, while the “Immanent Will” (18) alludes to nature. The diction of calling nature the “Immanent Will” implies the speaker’s reverence and nature’s power. The speaker capitalizes the W and I since the “Immanent Will” is a specific entity, and also because the speaker realizes the power of nature. An immanent will suggests nature to be like an inherent testament, which cannot be overpowered or controlled. While the speaker will characterize the ship as “smart” (22) and growing in “stature, grace, and hue” (23), the speaker never capitalizes the word “ship” or any of the references to the ship. The speaker respects the Titanic by using words with positive connotations; ironically, she shows her greater reverence towards the “Iceberg” (24)
The movie Shock Doctrine revolves around the concept of the same name. The film begins by discussing psychological research on the effects of shock therapy. It is evident that a person under extreme stress and anxiety commonly experienced during a crisis functions and performs inadequately. It is noted that the studies are conducted by a man by the name of Milton Friedman, from the University of Chicago; the studies took place in the past, and some of the subjects are still recovering in the aftermath. From this research, interrogation techniques were learned and the concept of the shock doctrine was formed. Essentially through causing a crisis, the population of a country can be shocked into complying with accepting laws that favors the United States and capitalism. This theory coexists with Friedman’s belief in that government regulation is bad, and through a crisis a country would better itself with deregulation. The video uses Chile as an example and shows how America allowed a crisis to occur in Chile, through coups, interrogations and subterfuge. In the end a new government is formed that allows capitalism. Unfortunately afterwards violence and riots occur, as the rich gain most of the wealth and poverty rises. In addition to Chile, Argentina, Russia and even Iraq underwent the shock doctrine. Almost in every account, poverty rises and violence ends up erupting. The movie ends by showing how the US was in the process of the shock doctrine, and still is but the population has taken notice. Protests such as Occupy Wall Street are some of the initiatives necessary to bring awareness to the problems of class inequalities in order to prevent capitalism from benefitting the rich and increasing the wealth gap among the classes.
When the family arrives in Welch, they notice that their newly purchased house is dull-looking and depressing, matching their moods when they first start living there. Jeannette notices that their glum house is contributing to their glum moods so she suggests painting the house yellow, a colour that is symbolic of happiness, to try and boost morale. Nobody in her family is willing to help so she paints by herself and notices an improvement in the look of their house. One day while playing outside, Jeannette and her brother stumble upon a diamond wedding ring lying on the ground. The wedding ring symbolizes hope to the children because they realize that it can be sold for a substantial amount of money. They bring the ring to their mother and tell her that, “it could get [them] a lot of food” (185), to which she replies, “but it could also improve my self-esteem. And at times like these, self-esteem is even more vital than food” (185). Rose Mary decides to keep the ring because she values her own selfish needs over the welfare of her children.
