The movie Me Before You is another tear-jerking film that will surely elicit different reactions from its viewers. It seeks to define how powerful love is and it conveys the message that to love truly is to let the other person live the life that he or she deserves. Also, it proves that opposite personalities do really attract. So, if you can’t decide whether you want a feel-good romantic movie or something that could make you really emotional and puts a big “Why?” in your head over and over again in the end, then I bet this movie is just the right combination for you. Me Before You is originally a best-seller novel by Jojo Moyes who also wrote the screenplay of the film adaptation. The story itself is somewhat another Nicholas Sparks-inspired kind but who cares? For as long as it is about love and it touches lives, people will surely accept it. I love how the story was bold enough to tackle love in a
Many were also surprised that Thea Sharrock was the one who directed this film since she is known for being a theatre director. Me Before You thus is her debut project as a feature film director and it’s not bad for a first-timer after all. On the other hand, I haven’t read the book yet but by knowing other people’s insights about the movie and researching about what the author (Jojo Moyes) has to say in the film adaptation through various interviews, I have discovered that there are a several things that were originally in the book but were not included in the movie and Moyes, together with Sharrock briefly explained that they have to remove some parts for there are just some things which cannot be visually represented easily and they even joked about having a 6-hour film if they stayed faithful with the
