Forrest Gump, a romantic-comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis is as true as Gump’s famous line, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”. This movie brings an unexpected amount of tragedies and crazy moments from start to finish. This movie will have you using tissues not only because it’s so sad but from crying laughing. Not only is the movie about emotion but it gives a great perspective of how life is different for each and every person in the world. This is a great movie because it brings you in emotionally, has great cinematography and great acting. It all starts with Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), the main character, sitting telling his story/ narrating the movie to the strangers he meets sitting on the park …show more content…
This movie brings you in emotionally in almost every scene. When Forrest Gump’s mom (Sally Field) is suffering from cancer, her last moments of life are on camera. The camera goes to a shot of of Gump in the room with his mom. As she explains what is happening to her she says “Life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get”. Mrs. Gump said this to Forrest because he asked his mom what was going to happen to him next since she was dying. In this very second, Forrest clearly gets chocked up and has tears filling his eyes. Mrs. Gump is also showing emotion but in a different way. She is a happy sad. She is sad to be leaving Forrest and shows that emotion in her words, but is also happy to be pain free and explains that it is her time to go. She shows this emotion in her acting. She may be laying in bed but expresses herself in the look on her face and the sound of her voice. This moment in the movie is guaranteed to make you bawl your eyes out. This is just one moment throughout the two hour and 25-minute movie that will make you feel emotionally …show more content…
Tom Hanks provides some of the best acting I’ve ever seen in any film. The actors and actresses chosen for this movie were outstandingly picked. Not only did Tom Hanks do an outstanding job but so did Sally Field, and Robin Wright. All three of these characters not only performed to their best ability, but they went out of their way in preparation to play that character. There is hardly a scene in Forrest Gump that isn’t memorable. One of my favorite scenes of Hanks acting is when he is at Vietnam war and he is about to lose his best friend Bubba (Mykelti Williamson). Gump stands by a swamp in Vietnam holding his best friend in his arms as he passes away. Bubba had just been near a blow up and tried to get away but couldn’t. Forrest soon realized Bubba was still in the forest after the bomb. He soon ran to go save him and that’s where he died, in Gump’s arms. There’s only one line to this scene but it is powerful. Gump says “Bubba was my best good friend. Even I know that ain’t something you can find just around the corner”. As tears came to his eyes I can guarantee tears came to everybody else’s eyes as they watch the movie. Even the small acting moments in this movie bring so much emotion. Yet again the acting of this film is out of this
A trait that makes Forrest Gump a great hero is that he is protective, of his friends & Jenny. Jenny was constantly being mistreated & hurt. Whenever Forrest was there & saw this, he punched that guy right in the face to defend her. Jenny also had a horrible childhood & was abused by her dad too. Her house reminded her of what ruined her life, so Forrest had it bulldozed. She never had to look at that awful place ever again. After Jenny died, Forrest looked after Forrest Jr. He taught him to read & do many other things. He cared for & protected his family to the

Sex, love, depression, guilt, trust, all are topics presented in this remarkably well written and performed drama. The Flick, a 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Annie Baker, serves to provide a social commentary which will leave the audience deep in thought well after the curtain closes. Emporia State Universities Production of this masterpiece was a masterpiece in itself, from the stunningly genuine portrayal of the characters of Avery and Rose, to the realism found within the set, every aspect of the production was superb.
...and several more keeps you and your emotions on a roller coaster ride. Which is brilliant because we all know that as humans we adhere to stimulation and that is what it does, it stimulates us by incorporating all these emotions and jumping around with them. With the movie it also adds a score and soundtrack as well as camera shots and things that appeals to our senses that much more. At least it does for me.
Mise en scene is a French term that is defined as the overall point of view of a movie or the "placing on stage". In other words, it refers to the combined experience of what the viewers hear, see and think of when they watch a movie. The mise en scene of a movie catches the attention of the viewers’ moods as much as lighting, props sounds, and smells do. It alerts their emotional response system to a real-life setting, which is conveyed in the movie.
There exist so many different societies and cultures in this world. Some like to discover and learn about new people and their ways of living but others can not seem to understand how a certain group of people can live in a different way from how they are living themselves. They simply do not want to accept other societies or cultures which can create clashes. This is something that was created socially, mainly by how people perceive ideas and other faces they are not quite used to. What are the causes of somebody looking at different cultures negatively? What issues can this type of thinking cause and what can we do to minimize it in today’s society? We will try to answer these questions by analyzing the movie “American History X.”
In the beginning of the movie the audience knows that there is something wrong with Forrest Gump. He talks to strangers as if they were a friend, and had braces as a child. The audience also learns that he has an IQ
The character Jenny Curran from the movie Forrest Gump, had a tough life from the very beginning of the movie throughout to the end. During the movie, most parts were assumed and not actually said. For example, as a child she was physically abused as well as sexually abuse, however, it isn’t said, a scene of her with dirty ripped clothes and older Forrest narrating says “her father was always touching and kissing her and her sister” that implies that her father was sexually abusing her. Jenny’s father was not only abusive but an alcoholic and neglected the care of Jenny. Throughout the rest of the movie, Forrest is always there to support and love her, and the detrimental decisions she makes and the different paths she endeavors, inevitably catch up with her in the end. In this essay, one of the main points we see by Jenny’s character are all of the metaphors between what she says and the advice she gives to Forrest, for example, to run from danger and her own constant behavior to fun away from whatever she is afraid of. Jenny Curran will be the focus observation and personality study. Although the main character in this film is Forrest Gump, we are able to see the trials Jenny’s incurs and how it develops her personality. The main idea of this essay is to look at Jenny’s life and find the foundation for what her personality was build on and all of the influences of change throughout her life. Her various personality and life changes will be examined as well as the environmental and social influences.
It is a great example of how persevering through life’s obstacles can make life even better than before. Being different creates many challenges for Forrest, however, he shows inner strength as he fights through these challenges. Along with this, Forrest Gump shows how having support while trying to escape a dark path will make success easier. Therefore, the movie reveals that life will not always be perfect, but it is important to persevere through the adversity that it is filled with. Ultimately, no matter the circumstances, any obstacle can be
The movie overall had a tremendous impact on my personality since it made me realize that every successful man in the world whether its Bill Gates, Chris Gardner or Carlos Smith have gone through immense hardships, struggling phases and complications in their personal and professional life to achieve the status, prestige and respect that they have today. They could have accepted these problems to adjust themselves with the existent scenario and situations, but the actual triumph of these people lie in recognizing the fact that all these problems and toils are there germinate greater resistance, potential of perseverance and willpower in them in order to transform them into a person who is fearless and disciplined enough to handle any kind of difficulty with extreme wisdom and sagacity.
For this assignment, I decided to do my film review on To Kill a Mockingbird (Mulligan, R., & Pakula, A. (Directors). (1962). To Kill a Mockingbird[Motion picture on VHS]. United States of America.) I have a personal connection to this film because it is one of my most beloved novels by Harper Lee. I have never watched the film so it was a nice experience to see the characters I have loved for years come to life just before my eyes. The film particularly focuses on a white family living in the South of the United States in the 1930s. The two siblings, Jem and Scout Finch, undergo major changes while experiencing evil and injustice in their small town of Maycomb. Jem and Scout’s father is named Atticus and he is a well-respected man in the town as well as being a lawyer.
Candide, which has been credited the base for the book and movie Forrest Gump, features a main character teeming with naiveté. Pangloss says all is for the better and Candide lives by this edict with unaltered optimism. Faced with death and fatigue, Candide is befriended only to be enlisted in the Bulgarian army. Escaping death a few more times, he sees the pains of war and masks the pain with philosophy.

Forest Gump was born in 1944 in Alabama .He was raised by his mother ,and his father left when he was little .Forest Gump wasn’t your average white boy ,Forest was different psychically and mentally .Forest Gump had to wear leg braces as a little boy because of his back. His mother would always encourage him .even though forest was deemed as an idiot, she was still supportive. Forest Gump was teased in school because of his mental capacity .He befriend a girl in school name jenny ,and she would hold a special place in his heart besides his mother .Forest Gump talks about his life and the historic events that the nation endured. Forest Gump’s mother would always say life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what gonna get.”Throughout forest Gump’s life, he meets new people and he also began to have an impact on peoples lives. Forest Gump goes through life becomes successful in everything he does. Even though many might say forest was slow or stupid, he still managed to finish college become an all-star football player for college. He then goes to the army to fight in Vietnam and becomes a war hero .He always managed to keep Jenny in his life even though they were not together. Forest became successful by starting a shrimp business. Forest recruits lieutenant Dan from the army to be his business partner .Forest becomes a millionaire; however he was still humble and living with his mother. Forest was never involved with women socially nor sexually is .The reason for this because Forest never developed a scene of maturity to enter an adult relationship, and besides being a mother’s boy.
...nd genuine kindness extend further than just treating the President of the United States like a normal person, even though Forrest Gump is ignorant of the ‘issues’ of different people. At the University of Alabama, two African American students are granted acceptance after an enormous ordeal on blacks going to colleges with whites because of the insane amount of racism the United States of America had. As the two African American students made their way up the staircase, one dropped a book and Forrest rushed through police officers and rioters to pick up the book and hand the book to the colored student who dropped it. Forrest’s ignorance definitely contributes to his selflessness and generosity towards people who are different (during the time period in American history the movie was based on), however, it is one of his traits that makes him a true unexpected hero.
