Hello. My name is Samantha and I am married to Kevin. We have been married for two years. We have currently decided that we want to start a family. After going to the doctor several times, we fear we may have fertility problems. Before going through with the process of fertility treatments, we would like to know more about it such as the success rates and cost. Questions we also have to ask ourselves are how much are we willing to spend on fertility treatments? Are we truly willing to give up some of our retirement fund? Should we ask family for help? Would we be willing to give up on certain things in order to pay for treatments? After researching the web, here are some things we have found. Many couples are faced with the problems and difficult …show more content…
In fact, “about 10% of women (6.1 million) in the United States ages 15 to 44 have difficulty getting pregnant” (Infertility Fact Sheet. 3.) Then what can happen is many couples feel the other partner is at fault, but actually it is best for couples to unite together during such a hard time. It is best to note that some causes of infertility, such as heavy alcohol and drug usages, age, medicines, excess weight, environmental toxins, and diseases can cause this in men and women. (Infertility Fact Sheet. 3-4.) it is best for couples to think about these things early in their lives together, if some of the previous things mentioned are taking place in one another lives. However, sometimes nature just decides that some men and some women are not going to have children and that is perfectly alright. Furthermore, the trick to infertility is knowing that it can happen to anyone and realizing the steps that need to take place if it is happening to a couple. Simple fertility test and testing clinics are available to determine whether the couple’s bodies are equipped for …show more content…
I make about $17,680 a year. My husband makes about $216,577 a year. (Healthcare Salaries) We have been looking into buying a new house in order to have room for our family. In order to be able to pay for the treatments and medication, we are going to have to give a few things up. We think the best thing to do in order to make this happen for us is to give up our dreams of buying a new home and move in with one of our parents. If we do that, it will take away paying rent, electricity, and other bills. My husband’s parents are willing to let us live with them that way we can possibly have our dream of having a family. This may not be an easy road, but it’s worth a shot. Also we are giving up or cruise this year. That saved us two thousand dollars that will go to the medication or

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2.1 million married couples experience troubles with infertility. The cause of the infertility is a male factor one third of the instances, female another third, ten percent of the cause is a combination of both male and female factors and the remaining twenty percent is not apparent. 1989 came with a boom as it molded the course of history – The Galileo Spacecraft launched by NASA flew up, the Berlin Wall tumbled down, and the massacre of Tiananmen Square left the city of Beijing in turmoil. Interestingly, a lesser known event swung the world of science in a complete 180. Scientists used embryonic stem cells to fabricate the first mice ever to lack assigned genes (Making). Just over a decade later, and following numerous embryonic stem cell discoveries, former U.S. president George W. Bush, authorized the use of federal funds for limited human embryonic stem cell research (Human). So, aiming for progress, mankind launched this new and exciting expedition. Nonetheless, in a culture that so readily promotes whatever promises a brighter future without weighing the means, we need to recognize the immorality of HESC testing. By exploiting these tiny humans in their foremost stages of development, the scientists behind this commit a heinous crime –
Let me begin with this. Public breastfeeding is NOT exhibitionism. It is simply the act of feeding a baby. Nonetheless, women are still facing widespread discrimination in public for doing so.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to help those who want children but struggle with infertility. The process consists of extracting eggs from a woman and collecting a man’s sperm sample then manually combining them in a lab dish. Once the embryo(s) are created they are transferred to a woman’s uterus. IVF is commonly used in woman who cannot conceive on their own due to different reasonings. “These include but are not limited to blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, male factor infertility, woman with ovulation disorders, genetic disorders, woman who have had their fallopian tubes removed and unexplained infertility.” (American Pregnancy)
Second, many factors contribute to infertility, which can affect either one of the couples. Some factors include:

Fertility is through normal sexual activity or unprotected sex for a year, the ability a couple has to produce a child. Fertility problems are faced by 2.1 million couples. What many people don’t know is that fertility affects women and men equally. For couples with no fertility problems, they don’t realize how fortunate they are. Hundreds of factors must come together to have a successful pregnancy. To become pregnant, an egg has to be released from a woman’s ovary, which is called ovulation. Then, a man’s sperm and a woman’s egg must meet, this process is called fertilization. After that, the fertilized egg must travel through a woman’s fallopian tubes and attach to the uterus wall, which is called implantation. Now, if you were like me you thought it just happened right? I mean you know what is involved to get there but you never really realized how many steps it took. Well if just one of those steps are off, a woman won’t be able to become pregnant.
Giving thanks to the new improvements in fertility treatments, American women are becoming mothers later than ever lately. Therefore, the number of women having their first child are between the ages of 40 and 44 has increased more than fourfold from 1985 through 2012, with the number of such births reaching 109,579 in 2012, according to the centers for disease control and prevention (O’Brien,2014). Women are more likely to conceive during their 20s, the cut off age for trying to conceive is 37. There should be a point where doctors tell you it’s time to stop treatments(cycles), but instead clinics will try to upsell you. What we as women do not realize is the high cost, the process, and the outcome of these fertility treatments. Sadly couples put so much into a process, and can come out with a disappointing outcome. So I myself do not stand by fertility treatments, these things can cause too much emotional distress.
Mr. Speaker, when a young woman graduates from college and starts looking for a job, she is likely to have a frustrating and even demeaning experience ahead of her. If she walks into an office for an interview, the first question she will be asked is, "Do you type?" There is a calculated system of prejudice that lies unspoken behind that question. Why is it acceptable for women to be secretaries, librarians, and teachers, but totally unacceptable for them to be managers, administrators, doctors, lawyers, and Members of Congress? The unspoken assumption is that women are different.
I do believe the author’s conclusions were warranted given the study’s design. By using the results obtained from this study counselors can determine how to best help clients with various types of infertility issues. As the results of the study revealed the etiology of the infertility could be correlated with the type of stress the client experiences.
