In the modern day world the main purpose of food seems to be nothing but to satisfy cravings and hunger. Although once one's taste preferences are met, it can result in a pleasurable eating experience. But hunger and thirst are the body's way of sending a message that it needs more energy to burn in order to preform at its best. The energy source that the body receives is significantly important in how the body reacts. Similar to how automotive vehicles don't all use the same gasoline, humans also have to choose the right fuel source. Water for example, is a liquid that makes up approximately 50% of the human body. Water contains electrolytes and once consumed will result in the maintenance of the active electrons on their cell membrane transversely. Besides restoring the body's nutrients, food highly impacts mood. The content of food one consumes will ultimately affect a persons psychological health. Having these craving and routine habits makes eating, diet, and nutrition both a behavior and a lifestyle choice that can be changed over time with help from the theories learned in this class.
