Fear suppresses humanity from fruition and prosperity. It is “a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc.,” it is “anticipation of the possibility that something unpleasant will occur,” it is portrayed as an obstacle to resent and to be avoided like the plague; however, fear can be seen as an encouragement to eliminate the problems constricting the achievement of success (Fear). Fear is an emotion that puts forth all uncertainty to strive towards the performance of triumph. Instead of viewing fear as the enemy, fear needs to be accepted as an essential for success.
Phobias are the basic contributions to fear, as well as radical decision making. A phobia can be as basic as the fear of height or it can be a complex and physiological as the fear of being alone. For instance, according to the Statistic Brain Research Institute, “74% of people suffer from speech anxiety,” also known as glossophobia. The fear of speaking does not only restrict a person to a solitary lifestyle, but a person can miss out on academic, social, and career opportunities due to the reoccurring fear of embarrassing oneself in front of their peers. Nevertheless, “fear often points us to areas we need to investigate more closely.” (Dr. Sam). For example, if a person has a fear of public speaking, then the person can continue to work and developed their public speaking skill until they feel confident to give a speech with running out of the class with shameful tears running down one’s redden cheeks. Fear is not the harbinger of evil, but an encouragement to push a person in the direction of overcoming fear, so dreading the next public presentation will have the person anticipating the chance to demolish the fear, instead of being filled with
