Fbi Agent Kate Macer In Sicario

FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is a main actress in a movie Sicario. Being a female protagonist in an action, crime drama is a nice surprise, field usually dominated by men. First we see her in a scene where she and her colleague Reggie (Daniel Kalluya) lead a kidnap-response squad on a house in Arizona. They instead of hostages find at least a dozen of corpses hidden in a wall, all victims of a drug cartel. She joins a mission with an intent to take down a drug cartel in border between the USA and Mexico. Throught the movie, however, we do not see her as the action figure. She is represented more as a passive passenger. Kate does not know what her role excatly is in this mission and she wonders around looking confused and lost. The protagonist, who you want to take action actually is more of an observer and the pawn in the game.

She was mostly useless to the overall plot of the movie and did nothing else other than stand in the background and smoke cigarettes.

At least her character is nicely contransted with Matt Graver (Josh Brolin). She is an idealistic agent who wants to play by the rules and is the only one who questions the dirty tactics of American crime fighting, the scene in the parkaway and the whole way the mission is led. He is an immoral special agent, who views violence as the only option for defeating drug cartels. Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), a mysterious agent, says to Kate: “You should move to a small town, somewhere the rule of law still exists. You will not survive here. You are not a wolf, and this is a land of wolves now.” and I think this quete perfecly desribes agent Macer as well as the situation in

Mexico.
