Sometimes what you are looking for, is right in front of your eyes. In life, people have an emptiness that they need to fill, particularly in today’s society. Nowadays, single-parent homes are common, and often the children look in the wrong places for another adult figure. Whether the child is 7 or 17, they are still longing for a feeling of belonging to a mother and a father. According to statistics dating back to 2011, the majority of children in lone-parent families lived with a divorced or separated lone parent. This then shows how children need a supportive, positive influencers in their life. When Alan Moore wrote V for Vendetta, he began with Evey Hammond on the bridge looking to the men for comfort, and for someone to sleep with to make money. V then appears to save her from those men and takes her into his care. This man under the mask becomes like a father figure or mentor to Evey. Throughout the book, there are many examples of how V saves Evey from dangerous situations such as rape, and murder. It is important to realize what Evey does not know about V, like who he is, and why he is trying to take control over the government.
