However, the dark truth is that fast food is a necessary evil. It is important, in our lives and they make life easier. As a result, there is a need to not only regulate the packaging of fast foods in order to control its effects but also to ensure that fast food industries put the health of their customers in mind. Therefore, since the fast foods will not go away in the near future, fast food industry needs to make their products healthier, put warning labels on them and control their advertisement. Ideally, promotion of fast foods needs to be regulated. Since the United States has the highest obesity rate out of any country, it is important for Americans to monitor the fast food industry that may be causing obesity. Now twenty-three percent of teens in the U.S. are pre-diabetic or diabetic, 22% have high or borderline high LDL cholesterol levels, and 14% have hypertension or prehypertension” (May, Kuklina, Yoon). The food that they provide is made to be eaten quickly, causing problems for the digestive system. Also, the health problems lead to the use for health insurance, which adds to the costs of Medicare. Health care costs will only worsen an already failing economy. Therefore, the government should regulate fast food restaurants in the United States in order to repair the deteriorating health and economy in America.

A Better Future Obesity is a problem in the U.S because it is the cause of death for many Americans. What can be done is, insurance companies can reward a healthy lifestyle and warning labels can be introduced to food products and food advertisements. For example, the government should enforce a law in which any type of food or drink sold, including fast food restaurants, should have a caution label, along with the nutrition label they have already, telling the consumer the exact associated risk of the product. With warning labels, the consumer can not be confused about whether it is harmful or not. All types of fast food advertisements must also come with a warning to consumers about the health risk of their products.
