Have you ever thought about what makes your family unique? If you have, did you find anything that was worth sharing? We all have something unique about our family. Alto we don't always know what it may be we have something interesting. My family is no different, we all have had skeletons in our closet and some are still coming out. My family is not a very close family. Everyone in our family has either moved away or lives near us and doesn't talk to any of us. Growing up I had to go back and forth between my parents and it was always very hard to adjust to going back and forth every week. Because of what has happened in my life my definition of family isn’t in the blood or the DNA it is in the bond that we form with each other. I consider people that I have created a strong bond with throughout my life part of my family. My family is very big to me, they aren't just blood they are also friends, my dad’s side and my mom’s side may be different but I will still love them no matter what. My family is a very big family. We don't all know each other because there are too many people in my family to know. I am lucky if i know ⅓ of my family's names. I can go to a family reunion and only know the people I came with. Im sure that happens to a lot of family's but it seems to stick out in ours. We don't have as many family reunions as we did when I was younger. When i was growing up we would have family get-togethers it seems like every week. Now we are lucky if we have it once every 5 years. I belive that might be part of the reason as to why I don't know ⅔ of my family. It bums me out knowing that I could be passing someone in my family everyday and not know a thing about them. Its awesome when you get to meet someone new in your fam... ... middle of paper ... ...happy, it made me believe I can trust her no matter what. Still today we have a stronger connection than we have ever had. Whether my family be the biggest I know or my family include some of my closest friends, or my parents sides of the family be complete opposites i will still love them. My family may be big but there are all different types of people in my family from blood related to really good friends. Or may it be my parents family's are different in more ways than one I will always love them. I believe if more families were more like mine our world would be in worse shape than it is now. My family is always fighting over the little things and not trying to look at the big picture in things. I really hope when people grow up and have their own family they will try to get along and make the best of it. If they are together or not I hope they can make it work.
For most people family is one of the most important parts of life. For they are the people who raised you and taught you things needed in life. For most of us we have a connection with are family that is unparallel in life, which is the reason for are undying love. At times though there is a point at which we take are family for granted like they will always be around. Parents might do things that are not agreed upon by the children, yet the parent thinks it is in the child's best interest. Sometimes it might not even be the best thing to do in that situation, yet parents have a true desire to protect their children from the dangers of the world. On the other hand, children do not always listen to the advice their parents give them and can get themselves into a lot of trouble. Anyway you look at it, most of the time we do not realize what we have until it is not longer with us. Many times we do take our family for granted and when one passes away there are many things we wish we could have said or done to show them are love. The play "Into The Woods," by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is a direct example of how families treat each other. There is conflict ranging from hating sisters, to protective mothers and a disagreeing husband and wife. In the end lives are lost, family are in pain and those left realize that they need to treat their family better and hold on to the loved ones that they have. Families do encounter many difficult choices together, but they also must solve the problems together, and keep peace within the family, because bad choice will be regretted when those loved ones are not around longer.
My family has always been there for me which is why I took our family photo for my art project. Even though we can get under each other’s skin sometimes at the end of the day we all still love each other and have one another to talk to and to blow steam off of. Like in the books how Izzie and Mira went to their mom for help I go to my mom for help all the time. Mira’s brothers were there to watch out for them when it came to boys and dating. I hate to say it but my little brother and younger guy cousins have gone on dates with me and my boyfriend’s more than anyone. I guess what I’m trying to say is that family will always be there for you. Even the times when you wish they weren’t. In the end family is all you’ve got.
Family defines people making them who they are. A person's family heritage, how their parents met and married, their parents’ occupations, their siblings, and their early lives play an important role in who they are and who they become. Every family is different and has different characteristics and members, but those differences are what make every family unique. Those differences combined with my family members’ experiences and the stories they have chosen to share are what makes this story exclusive to my family.
Family as defined by Webster’s College Dictionary can be one of many different people. Family can be your parents, spouse, children, brother, sister, grandmother, uncle, any blood relative, or even people who are not blood related that share that common bond (Webster 475). My definition of family is similar to Webster’s, but I feel that there is more to it than just being a blood relative or close friend. A person’s actions, beliefs, and morals play a major role in deciding who makes it into that “family” group. Family becomes more of an idea or feeling, like love or hate, than just who a person is or where they fall in your family tree. There have been people that I have considered closer than family just by their actions, even though they were nowhere near related to me. Fortunately, I have not had any blood relation family members make me wish they were not in my “family” (maybe my older sister when we were younger, but that doesn’t count). While reading from Children and Families in our text, I came across many readings that I feel were inspired in many different ways by what the author believed was “family.” There were two readings that jumped out at me and reminded me of my view of how a family should be in their interactions with each other. They were the short story “Flight” by Doris Lessing and the poem “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes. There was also one writing that I read that went against my idea of family and made me happy that this wasn’t the way that my family acted as I grew up, that was “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid. And while some authors lean their writing one direction or another, Adrienn...
In general knowledge, a family is a group consisting of blood relatives, living together as a unit. However, family has a much deeper meaning to me. Growing up in such a small Haitian community, I was always very close to all of my relatives, whether it was my siblings, cousins or aunts and uncles. I couldn’t imagine a world without them: they are the people who made me who I am today.
Although family can be challenging and perspectives on what defines it may vary, to strengthen and enhance these bonds, we must take care of our

In the play Antigone by Sophocles, we meet many characters, but more importantly Antigone and Creon. Antigone is the niece of Creon and sister of Polyneices. Creon is the father of Haemon and king of Thebes. By the end of the play we see that Antigone is right and Creon is wrong. It is true that both Antigone and Creon are at fault, but Creon should be held more responsible for the tragedy.
A dysfunctional family is a group of people usually related by some means, not always necessarily by blood, in which conflict, misbehavior, maltreatment and neglecting create a hostile life for its members. To explain this idea better we will see the definition of family, the differences between a healthy and a dysfunctional family; their characteristics and behavioral patterns. Some examples will help us examine this issue better, taking us to discuss the different factors that contribute to the formation of such families, along with its consequences in today’s society.
Family forms a necessary part of life. The opinions of their family members heavily influence people. Family members are influential in different ways, including relationships, finances, jobs, religion, etc. At some point in life, a person experiences a family dynamic. Family can be more than what you consider blood-related, like friends.
A dysfunctional family is a family in which conflict, misbehavior, and often child neglect or abuse on the part of individual parents occur continually and regularly, leading other members to accommodate such actions. (Shelley, 2016) Many people tend to believe that single parent households don’t experience any or minimal levels of dysfunction. For this research paper the dark side of relationships of children and adults in single parent dysfunctional households will be explored and evaluated.
To me, family is a group of people that are brought together by blood, adoption, or marriage. I also believe that people do not have to be blood-related to be considered a family. If two or more people have a connection with one another where they can rely and depend on each other and have an emotional attachment, I also believe that to be considered family. Golics, Azam, Finlay, & Salek (2010), define family as a diverse group of people that care for each other on a day-to-day basis (p. 400). My mother and father are still married after 27 years. I am a child of three with two older brothers, both are currently married with children. My older brother Robert and his wife, Lauren have to two girls named Abigail and Avery. My other other brother...
Even though times get tough and family life can get stressful at times I know that I will always be welcome in my family. Each of the different experiences that I have do different things to make me feel more comfortable with my family. The road trips and driving in the car make me feel more comfortable around my family it lets me learn new things about them and get to know them better. Doing the same things as them make it much easier to relate to my family and if you can relate to someone then it makes you feel more comfortable and connected to them. The everyday things in life assure me that I have a place in my family and it shows me where that place is. I already feel very comfortable around my family but I know that as I continue living the course of my life I know that I will be able to feel even more comforted around them.
There may be times where no one is there for you, your friends betray you in some way, and the only one that will be waiting with open arms are you family. It is very important to always cherish and appreciate the love, comfort, help, and attention that your family offers you because if you don’t, you may just end up regretting it in the end. A family does not necessarily have to be considered blood. If you have close friends that you see as a brother or sister because of their loyalty to you and the way they treat you, they are considered family. A family will always bring peace, love, and happiness, and though there may be times that you bump heads with your family members, you always run back to each other and speak as if everything is perfectly
One thing that has really taught me a lot in my life is the opportunity to see how my family is able to function properly, a majority of the time, with the completely different personalities that inhabit it. The two people that are unlike each other the most would be my parents. My mother is very reserved; however she can still be strict. Regardless, she always this loving look in her eyes. My father on the other hand is quite the jokester. He cracks jokes about everything, but he can be a very serious person when it comes time for it. My dad is easier to get things out of, such as money and permission. It is amazing to see how 2 different personalities can have such a strong relationship, almost 18 years! The other people in my family that have impacted me more than I ever would have wanted them to would be my siblings. My little sister is the closest in age to me, she being 14 whereas I’m 16. My sis...
