Defining Family is a very difficult task because family is defined in many ways and aspects. The family unit can be viewed in a physical aspect as well as in an emotional aspect. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, family is considered to be “Two or more people who are committed to each other and who share intimacy, resources, decision making responsibilities, and values; people who love and care for each other” (). This definition covers many aspects as well as the point that in a family there must be two or more people committed to each other. The family defined in the textbook from class is defined as “a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head” (). This shows that family can be a very physical aspect of life. I was told to write about "What family means to me?" so I am going to talk about what family means to me.
