Family Dynamics And Structure Of Conflict In Blue Bloods

The location is New York city, the home to the Reagan family and the setting of the cop drama Blue Bloods. The show follows the Reagan 's, a family with their roots entrenched deep in the structure of the NYPD. The family has a long history of law enforcement service starting with Henry Reagan (played by Len Cariou) the former police commissioner and father of the acting PC Frank (Tom Selleck). His three children Danny, Erin and Jamie (played by Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes respectively) all occupy different roles withing the law system. Jamie an experienced cop, Danny a homicide detective and Erin an assistant district attorney. The narrative follows an episode by episode format as opposed to a season long over-arching plot. The premise of each episode follows a similar formula, a criminal act or development within the department itself will causes conflict between the members of the family, NYPD or the city as a whole.
