Family is one of the most important things God blessed us with. Our society has grown up with the idea of the “American Dream” that consists of a perfect family, but what does this “perfect” family consist of? Family is who we find ourselves in, it’s who we form our identity with. Family shares the same blood and we are born into them, but the one thing that makes a family is the bond they share. A family is there for us through the good and bad times. When I look at my family, the first word that comes to mind is love. The love that we have towards each other is like none other. There is a bond between us all. That is what family should be like. Most of us grow up with a family that loves us unconditionally, but this can be shown in different …show more content…
Partial of the characteristics mentioned I do agree with and the rest are a characteristic that a family does not need to have. I believe that these characteristics should be a part of a family but they should not define if a family is “good” or not. “A family is any group of people who live together, share with one another, work together, care and support each other, keep each other safe and love each other” (Boys & Girls Club of America). I like this definition given of family because it is what I see that a family is. In the Bible, God created man and women to be together and to multiply. He created the aspect of a family. Howard’s list has some good points that a family can or cannot have but a family is what the family makes it. We all have different views of what we believe a family is, because we come from different backgrounds. Each family has its own characteristics that make it their own “perfect” …show more content…
Ephesians 6:1-2 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise” (NIV). The Bible tells us that we are to obey and honor our parents and that’s how I was raised. I grew up with two siblings and my parents. My family relationships have become such a vital part to my life. My love and loyalty to my family has shown through the love Christ showed for me. As a Christian, the relationships we have with people should reflect the way Christ loves us. God blessed us with the unity of family. Whether that be your biological family or the people you call family, we are blessed with those who love us. My family and I have a relationship that reflects the way we were all raised. Both of my parents did not have parents who were very loving and disciplinary. Therefore my brothers and I were shown deep love and discipline because my parents did not want us to go through what they went through as kids. My Christian faith has taught me to not take for granted the relationship I have with my family. They are there for me when I succeed and when I fail. We are a family that all believes in Jesus and trust in His plan for our lives. As a family, we have grown from the bad times to the good times because of Jesus Christ being our center. My relationship with each member of my family has its own place. I am learning each day how
Family, the word itself brings images of love, comfort, and peace in mind. The foundation of the family is based on structure, care, and dependence. It is a combination of individuals striving to understand and love one another unconditionally. Sharing the same blood is no longer a requirement to be considered a family. In fact, the definition of family is evolving like never before. With most marriages ending in divorce, the majority of children will be reared in "nontraditional" families ( single parent, step-parent, etc.). It seems that now the only thing you need in order to be a functional family is love and trust, which can be found anywhere from a close friend to a pet.
family plays in my daily interactions with everyone. I was raise in Christian background and the moral
The idea of family is different from person to person. Regardless of the differences, everyone’s family is unique and special in their own way. No one can judge or discriminate against people for their meaning and interpretation of what a family looks like. For example, family may have two parents; one parent; or no parents (since these are brief phrases, semi-colons shouldn't be used). The variation and differences between families makes culture and society so diverse. Family does not have limitations or boundaries (true). As long as the definition of family contains the qualities of unconditional love, and endless support, help, and guidance; all different families (awk) will be able to succeed and achieve a greater feeling of happiness and a sense of belonging and acceptance.
Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who
Being able to risk your life for someone because you love them that much is love, which my family has shown and given me. They have shown me how to support each other and others. My parents have taught me to be kind to everyone and to reach for my goals. My family is an important ingredient that has impacted my life tremendously
When the word “family” is discussed, most people think of mothers, fathers, and other siblings. Some people think of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins and more on the pedigree tree. Without family in people's lives, they would not be the same people that they grew up to be today and in the future. When people hear the word family they think about, the ones who will help them in any way they can whether it’s money, support, advice, or anything to help them succeed in life. Family will forever be the backbone of support.
To me, family is a group of people that are brought together by blood, adoption, or marriage. I also believe that people do not have to be blood-related to be considered a family. If two or more people have a connection with one another where they can rely and depend on each other and have an emotional attachment, I also believe that to be considered family. Golics, Azam, Finlay, & Salek (2010), define family as a diverse group of people that care for each other on a day-to-day basis (p. 400). My mother and father are still married after 27 years. I am a child of three with two older brothers, both are currently married with children. My older brother Robert and his wife, Lauren have to two girls named Abigail and Avery. My other other brother...
I like to think of family as the people God gives you to take care of in life. Psalms 11:29 states, “Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be the servant to the wise.” It is important to honor family. However, one does have a duty to help all fellow man if he is in the position to do so. Although, all members of the family are usually busy, family members should gather together in a meeting to discuss ways that they can spend quality time with each other. One of the best ways to bond within a family is to vacation together. This gets the family out of their normal habitat, usually in a setting where they do not know many other people. Therefore, the family members have to communicate with one another. It is also important to have time where daily such as over dinner where everyone is free of from distractions. During this time all cell phones and other electronics should be put away, in order to facilitate open
I have always wondered what makes a family. Family is major part of each of our lives I believe. When we classify someone as family, do they have to be blood related? I think family is largely made up of just the people who love you; the people that care about you. Society says the definition of family is changing. A “normal family” is no longer a married man and woman and their biological children all living with each other under one roof. I am going to explore the different types of people that make a family in out society today.
There may be times where no one is there for you, your friends betray you in some way, and the only one that will be waiting with open arms are you family. It is very important to always cherish and appreciate the love, comfort, help, and attention that your family offers you because if you don’t, you may just end up regretting it in the end. A family does not necessarily have to be considered blood. If you have close friends that you see as a brother or sister because of their loyalty to you and the way they treat you, they are considered family. A family will always bring peace, love, and happiness, and though there may be times that you bump heads with your family members, you always run back to each other and speak as if everything is perfectly
Family is an extremely important relationship connection that should always be strong. Family will always be there to support you emotional and physical through any circumstances. In the end, my family as a whole is the reason that I am the person that I am today. It’s the way that different personalities all come together as one, the way my family handles hard situations, and the closeness I have with them that has really impact me and my life. I know that I would not be as cheerful, hardworking, or positive without seeing all these qualities around me for a majority of my life. It’s astonishing how just 6 people can change you for the better. I know I would be in a very different place in my life if it wasn’t for my family. Family is different for everyone, and mine is truly the best people for me.
My family is a love I have. My immediate family consists of six people: my dad, mom, and three sisters and me. However, I love these people on a different scale than I love books. Whether it is a hand to guide, a tissue to wipe away tears, or simply a smile to make my day better I can count on people to love me and so, henceforth, I love them in return. I love my parents for many reasons. They are always there for me when I need help or am need of anything.
It is a source of comfort, support, security, and protection.
