Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, tells the story of a fireman who sets out a plan to gain knowledge in a dictatorial and dystopian society where books are prohibited in the government’s attempt to maintain power over the citizens. Nevertheless, by pursuing the action of restricting books and preventing citizens from recognizing the knowledge found in literary texts, the government forms a world solely reliant on technology. Which makes it challenging for humans to socialize, leaving a world disconnected from reality. While technological immersion may improve communication, it can also cause a diminishing focus on real-life interactions since excessive reliance on technology leads to technology addiction. It connects to Fahrenheit 451 through Faber and Montag s positive use of technology. Nevertheless, the immersion of technology is not fully understood. There are positive as well as negative aspects. It is important to recognize the benefits of technology as it has the ability to make daily tasks much easier. Although technology can improve communication, too much of it can diminish one’s focus on real-world interactions. In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury mentions Mildred's feelings about technology and how they impact her relationship with Montag. She believes that the parlor walls are her family, leading her to rarely acknowledge Montag s presence. Montag says And the uncles, the aunts, the cousins, the nieces, the nephews that lived in those walls (Bradbury 41). No matter when he came in, the walls were always talking to Mildred (Bradbury 42). These quotes analyze the effects of technology on Mildred and Montag's relationship. Montag began referring to the characters in the parlor walls as family members, this is shown in the first quote.
