Fahrenheit 451 Clarisse Characteristics

Clarisse McClellan, the odd one in this dystopian society where being social has been deemed anti-social. She is different from most if not everyone else in the world. Different being she likes to enjoy life, she goes on walk, she enjoys her time and tries to learn something new every day where as everyone else tries to go about their business. You could assume from the first time we the reader were introduced to her that her life will play a pivotal role in the main character’s life. Guy Montag meets Clarisse and immediately notices that she’s different because of the way she acts, she attempts to learn from Montag and that astonishes him to the point where he is intrigued by this inquisitive character.
Clarisse had traits that most in her world had long lost, she was inquisitive, playful, experimental, perceptive, introspective and weird. In my opinion she was the type of person that a lot of people nowadays need in their life to make sure they make good judgment calls. As the story progresses you realize how much of an actual impact Clarisse makes in guy’s life she makes him a better person and opens his eyes metaphorically to see what he’s really been living and it’s a

fake shell of what actually is.
Clarisse was a very weird character reason being was in that society having an introspective nature was deemed wrong or incorrect.

She shows Montag more and more as the story progresses that certain things in things in this world are wrong. She asks Montag what he does with his free time. He can’t really answer the question because his been trapped in this fantasy where everything he does is only what’s necessary. She answers the question by saying “Do you want to know what I do with my time, I sit and think” to Montag this notion is a waste of time but as the story progresses he realizes that maybe the way Clarisse was living her life may have been right. Clarisse directly opposites most of the people in that society so for her to say she just sits and thinks it’s a bizarre idea for most

people

The fact that Clarisse begins to spend more and more time with guy shows that his interested in what Clarisse had to say. She had a peculiar nature from others perspective. Guy claims that Clarisse doesn’t fit the mold that their society has for people, she is even sent to a psychiatrist because of it. The enjoyment of the little thing is what pleased Clarisse, she would often do many things that people from this dystopian world would find a waste of time. Walking around at night until the sun came up, learning new things and most of all sitting down to enjoy life are a few things that Clarisse did.
Playful nature and life in her eyes are some of the traits that Clarisse possessed. In the story she did things that made guy feel uncomfortable but it never deterred him from meeting up with Clarisse. She put a dandelion under his chin and as he quickly pulled away he realized that she was actually laughing because of what had happened and the way he reacted. She seems to have a huge impact on Montag in the short time they spend together. She makes him feel vulnerable and no longer feel safe in the fake shell of the world.
She makes guy question if what he’s doing is right or wrong. On page 35 she asks him “didn’t firemen prevent fires rather than stoke them and get going. Once she questioned his way of living it makes him think if what he’s been doing is right or wrong. She the exact opposite of guy Montag’s wife Mildred. Clarisse would make Montag think about his actions where as his wife didn’t care what he did as long as she has he tv family she was happy, whereas Clarisse was more interested with what was occurring in their world.
When Clarisse dies you realize how watched that guy was to her. It was as if she was there just to open his eyes and then was ripped out of his life and he was left to fend for himself I think that he’ll learn more and more because of what she’s given to him.
