What do you think about social media is it bad or not? Well this person Hilary Stout’s she thinks that,“Kids today are less interested in face-to-face communication with their friends than when I was growing up”also that “Today exchanges with friends are more superficial and more public” and “With children’s technical obsessions starting at ever-younger ages”. I do agree on Hilary stout’s argument that kids this days are more into the network world then in the real world.
Hilary Stout’s thoughts that kids are less interested in face-to-face communication is something that all parents should worthy about . Why? Well first i do agree on Hilary Stout’s thoughts because of how kids interaction face-to-face is less interested then when
In our society, technology has changed drastically especially when comes to social media. Social media has their positive and negative parts. The positive thing that social media is good for is that you can make relationships why communicating with each other while online. This where relationships begin. The one negative thing about having a social media is that it can lead to addiction.
“The Risks of Parenting While Plugged In” by Julie Scelfo. This article was about parents paying too much attention to technology that they forget about their little ones. Also how using too much technology can affect your child in negative ways. In the article she states an incident she saw with a mother and son. The son was repeatedly trying to get his moms attention but she wouldn’t look up. Things like this can make children feel ignored make them feel upset. It could make them be on the internet just as much as their parents. Parents now days need to put time aside for their little ones. I agree that things need to change, and we can have better focused parents.
Social media is pretty great right? When you’re bored you just naturally out of habit go onto your phone and play a game or go on Snapchat to talk to your friends or watch funny videos. It easily kills time when you need it to; it can take time away from doing what you need to do. Even though it’s super fun to be on, I think it’s super negative!
A study done by Stanford said that when children spend more time with their technology instead of using that time for face-to-face communication, their social skills might decrease. A professor from Stanford University, Clifford Nas...
Social Media may be helpful sometimes, but they do bring many disadvantages and dangers to those who use them. To begin, “Teenage Social Media Butterflies May Not Be Such a Bad Idea” by Melissa Healy, talks about social medias advantages and parental worries. Many people like parents may say Social Medias are helpful or they are a bad influence for our new generation. Some advantages said in
Parents and Kids may not always agree on a certain matter because of this. In Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use”, college was not a big deal when Dee’s mother was growing up. Dee’s mother never had an education growing up, “I never had an education myself.” (Walker 270) Dee’s mother does not see the purpose of an education. She has lived her entire life without one and even though in times it might have been hard she made it through them. Dee, on the other hand, realizes how the world is changing and that to be competitive in the world she lives in she must have a college eduction. Different views of parents and kids can be seen in todays society through technology. In todays society technology plays a huge role in where the world is heading. Parents today did not grow up with the gadgets and gizmos that the kids today do. Parents are always telling kids to just pick up the phone and call someone instead of texting them. Kids argue that it is the only thing they know. Communication through a phone or person is much personable, but in today’s society texting is the
Social media and internet use have considerable impact on the lives of children and young people. Outline both the positive and negative aspects of this.
Thousands of people are using Social Media in today’s world without knowing the consequences of using it. Everyone wants to be the best one. Have you ever wonder what Social Media can do to one’s life? Does it make the life better or worst? Does it benefit the user or harm? If you ask me, then I would say that there are more risks than benefits of social media because it decreases the amount of social interaction of people, increases the amount of cyberbullying, and violates privacy.
Some believe that social networking sites should be controlled by the government as it would protect our fellow children and maybe another generation. It has been reported in the news for some time that some children have been bullied on these sites which caused them to commit suicide. Was the invention of social networking sites good or bad? Not all children use social networking sites to create havoc or destroy other people’s lives and many agree they have a positive effect.
When you think about social media what do you think of. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Vine. Well social media is more than that. Social media is not just Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Social media is any online website that lets you interact with other people, share photo and information and keeps you updated. Or do you think about how it’s made a positive or negative impact on today’s society. In my personal opinion I think social media has made both positive and negatives impacts on today’s society .Some of the negative impacts are cyberbullying and addiction, and the positive impacts are spreading the word and increasing business sales.
In today’s society, much advancement has been made throughout the universe. However, one that seems to stand out in particular is the use of social media. Social media has both positive and negative effects on society. This advancement has led to a difference in communication to everyone by reconnecting with others, or even informing the public nationwide through televisions such as the news or talk shows. However, is social media safe to use? Social media has a great impact on everyone in society. While allowing your children or teenagers to engage in social media a few things to consider are the risks of youth using social media, what age is too young, and also how social media is useful in some cases. Children participate in cyber bullying now and even find themselves involved in bad habits, such as sexting (Schurgin O’Keefe). According to a recent poll conducted, over 22 percent of teenagers log onto their social media site more than ten times a day (Schurgin O’Keefe). Not everything is negative towards social media, but there are precautions that need to be taken when there is the youth involved.
Since the beginning of the time the most primary method of communication has been the face to face communication. In fact, for an extended time, face-to-face communication was the only method ever used. As the time passed many new methods came along with the use of letters, telephone calls, and emails. Even though with the improvements in such type communication, nothing like other types of communication has been able to change or replace the face-to-face method. Face to face communication is better than any other types of communication because it allows one person to recognize the facial expressions of another, you can tell whether if the person is telling the truth or not and it allows one person to express his/her feelings towards the person.
...utside and see what the world has to offer it can end up being a negative experience. Social media is basically a place for fake relationships, a place to go for a few hours every day to look and check where one is popularity wise, and to stalk other people’s lives. Social media might not be completely bad, but the negatives at the moment far outweigh the positives. People are being driven apart by these websites that were at one time designed and created to bring people closer together. That is the crazy thing, that something made for people to be more social has made people to be antisocial to the world around them. The great idea just does not seem that great anymore and people might benefit from going outside or picking up the phone to have a real life conversation with someone. For those are the things people will most likely want to remember when they are older.
Social media has nothing but negative effects on people’s minds. Social networking can become very addicting and people can get wrapped up in the drama and excitement of the cyber world. It would only improve our society today if social media never existed to our knowledge. Our society today feels so connected with social media that it interferes with our lives making every task even harder with the temptations.
Although not all students are connected or using social media, most are. This is a trend that is only on the incline and probably will not fall for a while. Others on the opposing side feel that students use social media in positive ways that benefit their lives. Which in reality it causes students’ grades to lower and their work to be weaker by not expressing their full potential, just going through the motions, and getting work done. Also, social media brings up issues such as cyber bullying which causes students to have academic struggles. Social media definitely a good communicate and does have several upside including, expressing emotions, staying connected with friends, coordinating plans and much more bonuses. It is overall a distraction to the teenage generation.
