FIFA's Not So Objective Role in Football Football has always historically been known as the most played, most loved, and most influential sport in the world. The history of football, which was first played by the ancient Greeks and Romans, is a long one that has played some role in shaping almost every country's culture as we know it today. The game of football is seen by many as a game that has the rare power to bring nations together. Football is a language that every nation can speak, where despite the many differences in cultures between nations; football is a massive part of almost every European, South American, and Asian nation's cultures. Whether it is a nation like England, where organized and governed football games first began in the 1300's, or nations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East (FIFA). In these nations today you will always see some battered ball being kicked back and forth in these nations' small, extremely poor towns and villages. Today's youth in these nations sees football as a game that can liberate them from poverty, a game that can make their name known around the world. It is these desires, the prospect of playing football and representing your country on the world's largest stage, which keeps these balls moving in places where real footballs is a commodity. The game of football is everywhere, across the world, and has some influence on the people and culture of almost every nation in the world today. Organizing the professional game of football in the world today has been the goal of FIFA since 1904.
