The school board is considering adding an hour and a half to the school day.The extra hour and a half would provide more instruction time and students . Teachers would also be able to create more interactive lessons with the extended time. There would be several benefits if the school board extends the school day by one and a half hours.
Extending the school day would give students more remediation time. For example, the students that are having trouble could get help from their teacher. They could also bring their grade up because they are getting help. Finally, they would be able to get more work done because they would get a few extra minutes. Because they getting more remediation time they could do all of those
First of all, having longer passing periods would help our teachers. Teachers are always in a rush to get stuff done for the next class. Sometimes when teachers have to go to the bathroom they don’t have enough time. When a teacher is absent another teacher has to check up on the sub to make sure they’re doing everything right. Then teachers have to give students make-up work. Teachers also have to answer any questions students might have. Teachers
Education in our nation is in crisis, and in order to confront the problem we need to tackle it at the center. We need to target school boards; they control funds, education, and more or less the community. With school boards these days being counter-productive, there seems only one way to solve the problem. Get rid of school boards across the nation and provide each school with its individual power much like private schools, or initiate the creation of a nation-wide school board. With the whole nation on the same page, maybe together we can help save education, and ensure the future of our country. Only until something is done to school boards will there be a positive, productive change towards education.
My school board is deciding whether or whether not we should go an extra hour of school (Eight hours). I believe we should not do this, so I came up with three reasons why are they are: The cost, kids tend to get hungry, the behavior of children. Therefore, I’m wanting the school board member to reason with my explanations of why we should not go an extra hour of school.
Is our education system really the best? The United States school system is very old school and outdated. It makes america look irresponsible and the future generation less enthusiastic to continue school. I believe America should update its school system. If we improve and redesign school, Students will be more positive and willing to go, they will enjoy more of their free time, teachers will be more effective.
This would also give them more time to give feedback to students. The teachers would also have more time to prep for upcoming classes. Teachers would also be able to give back work to students, giving the students more of an opportunity to study their work and feedback. This would give students more room to breathe and get their assignments done correctly.
Extending the time of the day for school will definitely improve students and teachers in many different ways. There should be extra time added to school hours because it would really help students develop more information, Help students that are failing, and also it would have a great effect on teachers that are not able to teach a lesson in class in the usual time given. First and foremost, Students that are already highly educated can really open up to a whole different level of knowledge with more time in school. Adding time would be a great idea for students that have a hard time learning or students that need to know more. For example, in the usual time that we have in school which is approximately 5 to 6 hours a day.
If the school board will be adding an hour and a half to school we would have less time for
Shortening the school week to four days would not only relieve stress on students, but on teachers also. It would cut down on the amount of stress and give them more time in class to complete/continue on their homework. Giving kids more time for their homework in class would lead to a better turn-in-rate of homework. It also allows for students to get more involved athletics and school activities, leading to an improved community and a jubilant society. The average percentage of students who spent 1-2 hours on homework(k-12) was 19.3% repeated.
The school board is considering adding an hour and a half to the school day. So adding an hour and a half would, Interfere with parent's work schedule
How would you feel if the typical school day of all public schools in your city was extended? In fact, the majority of students, parents, and schools would find this to be absolutely outrageous. Currently, The mayor of NYC is contemplating lengthening regular public school day two hours. He feels that this would be a great opportunity for students to get additional homework help from their teachers. I strongly feel that lengthening school days would be very unnecessary and would not exhibit any beneficial effects on students, parents, and public schools.
School should be four days a week with an extra hour added to each school day because it would save money for the school system, increase student motivation, stimulate the economy, and promote student achievement. There has been a decrease in education due to the small amount of resources, causing classrooms to be bigger and children not being able to extend their knowledge. Even though the economy has been falling, each school district has been working hard to promote student education, which could mean trading a traditional school schedule for a four-day school week. Replacing a normal school schedule for the four day school week can raise the school budget tremendously. (Hart, Demand Media).
How can school days benefit kids? Some beliefs on why school days should be longer is for a variety of reasons, kids struggling and kids being able to ask question. I also think school days should be longer because you can get more things done over the course of the school day. This could be helpful because it would only add like a couple minutes to each class. Kids could get their homework done also and could get more help. The second reason is that in an hour short school day we don't get enough time to ask questions. With longer school days we could add ten minutes a day just to ask questions if kids are confused or don't understand how to do something. We could also not cram in everything and get kids confused and it could help them
A shorter school day could let you fit in extra after school activities , and the activities you want to do that take
America is a blessed country in numerous ways, and its citizens reap the benefits. Free education is one major benefit that not many other countries provide for their citizens. While it is only a privilege to many, but in the States, people have the right to be educated. However, free education cannot be translated to success for all. For those motivated ones who cherish the privilege to be educated are those who climb up the success ladders later in life. For a certain majority of students in the States, our current educational system may not seem to serve its purpose. In this paper, I will explore two possible adjustments that could be made to improve our system to benefit our next generation. Academic improvement and class size reduction are the two adjustments that I will elaborate on.
In “Extending the School Day or School Year: A Systematic Review of Research” authors Erika Patall, Harris Cooper and Ashley Batts Allen argue reasons why the school year should be longer. The amount of time spent in school directly effects how well students do in school. According to the authors study “Adding time to the school year or school day is at the top of the list of measures that have been hypothesized to improve achievement among U.S. Students”(401). The main reason why the authors believe that the school year should be extended is because there are now more things being taught to students and the extra time is needed in order to academically succeed. The authors state that years ago school years and days were both shorter because children us...
