Through most of my time in high school, I always found myself writing more of exploratory writing for two simple reasons; it took a shorter amount of time, and relating writing to my personal experiences was something I had no need to look up. Exploratory writing is a time to take advantage to relate your own personal experiences and an attempt to make a connection with a certain reading. The experiences you have will not be exactly the same as you’re classmate and might be very enjoyable to read. Lamott and Hairston both use explanatory and exploratory writing in their essays by explaining the techniques of what good writers do and applying their own personal experiences. By applying both explanatory and exploratory in their essay they are able to provide the reader with new ideas they can adopt to improve their writing skills.

Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Everyone has had that one teacher in their lives that they either loved or despised. After watching the film of “Freedom Writers” I began to think back at what qualities made me prefer certain teachers over others. Reading the Psychology Applied to Teaching textbook opened my eyes into realizing the reasons why there were some teachers that I was very fond of and those that I was not. I realized that teachers have an important and impactful role in either increasing your love towards a subject or decreasing it. There are certain qualities that make teachers effective, including: being aware of the child/student, realistic expectation of their students, and never accepting low-quality work.
However, to me one of the main qualities of becoming an effective teacher is to be caring. As a teacher one must be able to take the time to get to know their students on a personal level although on some occasions it is found to be hard to communicate with students. It will be considered a positive approach towards dedicating some of your time towards your students. These relationships on most occasions help teachers to better understand the students. This will now enable the teachers to become better equipped and able to adjust their teaching style to suit the students learning. In relation to this an effective teacher must be able to thing outside the box and show creativity as there is no one particular way to teaching say for e.g. in my practicum class my lecturer prefers to teach without the use of power points and speak from the top of her head whereas in my psychology class it is a completely different scenario.
