Students Shouldn’t Have the Choice to Go School

Roger Sipher explains how Americans educations are in trouble because of mandatory attendance laws for students that do not wish to be at school. He says that children just don’t want to be at school and this causes no desire to learn which affects the ones that do want to go. Sipher gives six reasons as why to get rid of compulsory attendance these are; school is for people that want to learn but also for any that don’t; grades and elementary school teaches wouldn’t have to pass students who are failing; and saving money. With this being said, now imagine how our future children are going to support themselves if they didn’t have to go to school. Ask yourself, how are students’ lives in the future going to be?

Sipher is giving reasons to abolish compulsory attendance laws that are justified and sound legit but does he know the consequences?

He obviously doesn’t think about children’s future. There should be ways to enforce students that aren’t old and mature enough to make a decision as big as not attending school.

We all know that if education systems gave students the choice of not attending school their automatic answer would be no. once we’ve hit college, we don’t want to go in literate and looking dumb because we didn’t attend school. What is being taught in school can be useful for the future. Attending school has become important for students future, it can depend on how they’re going to live. You wouldn’t want to be at the end of the street asking for money to survive. People who went to school and have more education are now living with a higher

income.
Schools and parents can also be blamed for students not wanting to attend. School teachers need to be more active when it comes to teaching, for example; going to class and having to repeat the same schedule that is; taking notes, do some classwork, and read for a while semester can get boring. Teachers should change the activities and do something that makes students look forward to be in class. They can also speak to students one by one that way you know how to help them in case their struggling. Teachers should not have a attitude early in the morning! Now parents should motivate and push their child each morning to go to school. Giving rewards at good grades can also help motivate to keep going and doing well. Then there are consequences when they’re not meeting the only responsibility children have that is go to school. For example, if parents didn’t go to school they should use their experience and telling them how hard it is to find a well-paying job. I’ve seen how hard parents work seven to eight hours and waking up at four in the morning and coming home tired each day not eating because all they want to do is sleep. Students need to be obligated keep going to school so their future is not like that.
Sipher’s recommends abolishing compulsory-attendance laws and allowing only those who are committed to get an education to attend. Students shouldn’t have the option whether to attend school or not. Students are not mature enough to be given that choice. With parents having control over their children they need to make them go. Imagine if what Siphers solution was a passed as a law. How our future children are going to support themselves if they didn’t have to go to school. Ask yourself, how are students’ lives in the future going to be?
