Don’t you just hate it when you’re starving at school. You just can’t wait for lunch. There is just one problem, There is nothing good on the menu. This means you’re just going to be famished the rest of the day. If you have sports after school that is even worse. I know how to solve this problem. Schools should have more food choices at lunch time.
The Playwickian said, some students do not like what is on the menu, and they will not get enough food and be hungry. There are days that I do not like what is on the menu, and I go hungry. If there were more choices it would solve this problem. Kids would find food that they like. If the main dish was spaghetti, and you do not like that then there are tacos. Then you would not be hungry. There should be at least three choices for the main dish.

They could have a stomach ache or a headache. No one wants to feel bad the whole day. If kids get enough to eat they will not feel bad . When you do not feel well, you might be in a bad mood, or be grumpy. When you’re grouchy you might get mad at people. We can solve this problem by having more choices at lunchtime. Then everyone will eat, and feel well. Kate Murphy said kids will not do as well on their school work if they do not eat. If kids don’t eat they will not have energy for their work. When I don’t feel well from not eating I do not do as well as I could. This has happened to me before. If you have a test after lunch, and did not eat you might not do as well as you could. Some people will argue with what I am saying, they think that we should only have one main dish. They think that food would go to waste because a lot of people might like the same thing. To fix that is when the teachers take lunch count they give you the three options and you tell them which one. This way the cooks will make the right amount. All the students would be happy this
One reason our school should get a new lunch menu is many students do not like the food served. For example, a survey was taken and of the 31 students 100% said they disliked the food. As student Bryan Huang said, “The lunches are horrible, they need better choices and more choices.” In other words, the food is not delicious and there are not many choices. Also, when children don’t get proper nutrition they have trouble focusing in school. Most students do not buy lunch because they feel it is unappealing and do not like the food served. Many students go to other kids and ask for food. In addition, many students do not eat breakfast so they rely on lunch to fuel them for the day. But, if they do not like the food served they won’t eat so they starve for the rest of the school day, which can
We cannot have a school lunch reform where the needs of all students are not met. If only some, or less than the majority, of students are receiving the nutritional values they need, we need to adapt the reform to further achieve better standards for school lunch programs. For example, after a student finishes their meal, schools could offer a second serving of protein to their students. In effect, this will add a higher amount of calories to the students’ daily diets.
Lunch is one of the most important meals of the day and is consumed mostly in school cafeterias for children and adolescence. Wholesome lunches are vital in maintaining a healthy metabolism and give children energy for the rest of the school day. Children are advised to eat healthily but do not always do so because the choices of tastier, fatty foods offered in school cafeterias. The National School Lunch Program, NSLP, which is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools set nutritious guidelines for lunches served in school cafeterias (USDA). However, school campuses still offer foods high in fat as well as selling candy, chips, and soda in their vending machines, as well as their school shops. In order
School lunches affect the students school work and the grades, due to the unhealthy lunches at school. Without the students getting the right nutrition needed, they do not meet the academic expectations. The teachers expect the students to perform well in school especially through the year. “Without good food, students are just stressed out with school, and then still stressed about being encouraged to perform good as well” (Anderson). When students get the proper nutrition it can help them avoid bad behavior that would require getting detention, suspension or even expulsion(Anderson). School lunches could also affect the grades the students receive because they lack the nutrition they need. “Studies have shown that students grades went up when they are eating healthier”(Anderson). If schools had healthier lunches it would help raise their grades by 4% because with the food needed to have focus and energy to do
School lunch is an obvious problem that has yet to be fixed. Mark Samuelsson once said, “We struggle with eating healthily, obesity, and access to good nutrition for everyone. But we have a great opportunity to get on the right side of this battle by beginning to think differently about the way that we eat and the way that we approach food.” A well know fact to almost all students and their parents is that there are many problems with school lunches and it needs to change. Not only is school lunch unhealthy, but it also does not taste good most of the time. Some people feel that school lunch is not that big of a deal so it should be very cheaply processed in factories and preserved, but that is not the case. In order to solve the lingering
With the implementation of the “Healthy Kids Hunger-Free Act” schools are not serving as many lunches and participation is decreasing. According to the Government Accountability Office (GOA), “Nationwide, student participation declined by 1.2 million students(or 3.7 percent) from school year 2010-2011 through school year 2012-2013, after having increased steadily for many years”(sec. 1). The school lunches became more distasteful and bland; the combinations of foods did not make sense, and the portion sizes decreased significantly. In order to support the cafeteria
Imagine coming to work everyday, and you have to buy whatever your company decides to serve. When you go to the cafeteria, you are given a soggy piece of packaged pizza, a rotten apple, and some brown mush. Would you tolerate having to eat food like that on an everyday basis? One recurring problem that students face on an everyday basis is the low quality of the nutrition and taste of their school lunch. While it is still important for schools to place most funding into education, paying attention to the quality of the lunches is just as important.
It is sad to see students not getting the appropriate amount of nutrients, feeling sickly every day, and falling behind in class because they cannot concentrate due to the fact that they are hungry. The only hot meal that most of these students are getting is during school hours. The need for the Backpack Food Program is evident. According to the nonprofit organization Feeding America, there are 22 million children across the nation that goes home hungry every day (Backpack Program, 2018).
This is because of the eating habits that are already set in place. In the Article “Why Some Schools Are Saying ‘No Thanks’ to The School Lunch Program, it says that “Of course, the entire program is predicated on the fact that children will welcome — and eat — the healthier options. As TIME has reported, schools with the greatest success in making their cafeterias healthier started early and
Many students ask their friends for their food during lunch because they don't get enough. They need to be provided with more food if they want students to be full during the day. Giving students seconds will be a good thing because the school won't have to throw out any food. Students will also be happy with the quantity of food they get.
Why is this a problem? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, more advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren’t motivated to eat unhealthy, not-tasty food.
We should be able to eat and/or drink in class, what we want, when we want. The main reason I feel this particular way, is because there’s no reason a person should have to go eight in the morning or before until noon or after without eating or drinking something. (If you are in high school, that is). Another one of the main reasons I feel this way is because some kids have problems involving food, such as diabetes. Another possible problem might be hypoglycemia, which, in fact, I have. Hyperglycemia is another major problem in this world. I also believe that students can focus and learn more on a full stomach. Not just because I am, in fact, a student, but because I have been in the situation where I’m hungry and I can’t concentrate on anything, except my stomach and it’s cravings for food.
Many of these children only get a full meal while having their school lunch, so many of these children go hungry the rest of the day.
First let’s start with quantity. This is why students are depressed. They get starved. I believe students should get what they paid for. If they are going to make us wait till 12:30 to eat, we should at least get enough food to fill our emptied bellies. Now for the quality. The food I give my pets and the food that goes in my mouth should not look the same. They could at least starve us with food so good you don’t need more. If we got better food, I bet the amount of food wasted would be reduced. 0/20 students said the quality of the lunch food on average is great.(ELA-Hour6) Now I do believe our school does serve some good food sometimes, it just needs to happen more often to satisfy the minds of students. Overall I feel like with a few changes to our lunch, students would be more satisfied. Not too many changes are really necessary I hope this makes you think a little bit. If you were in control of a school like this, what would you do about the environment of your
In this problem there are 3 main types of people who care about the 15 Pre K students getting something to eat. First there are the teachers, the teachers care about this problem a lot because when children at around that age (which is 3 years old) get hungry, they start yelling, crying, and fighting with each other and that is just a sign of them getting cranky because of the fact that they haven’t eaten for a while or that they don’t like what they are eating. Then another reason that the teachers care about the sandwiches is that if the children get some type of food that they are allergic to, it will be the teacher’s responsibility to look after that child and it would be blamed on the teachers. Finally if the children get sandwiches with too much sugar, they will start being hyper and start running and jumping all over the place and the teachers would have to start running after them. Basically the teachers do not want to have to look after every student individually and worry/deal with so many problems on a fieldtrip that is supposed to be fun.
