Why food is not allowed in class Food shouldn’t be allowed in a classroom because it's a distraction. Kids should be paying attention to their importance of education instead of eating in class. That's why they have a thing called lunch, after school, before school, and passing period. Kids these days eat all the time like at school, home, park, gym, classroom, and other places you can go to. If you compare our generation with other generations, our comparison with our grades to theres, are very different. If you're chowing down a Big Mac, hot cheetos, or whopper during class, you probably aren't focusing that much and Students should give near-round 100% of their focus Nevertheless, if a student is hungry, by the way he/she should have eaten at lunch/ breakfast/snacking periods, then he/she …show more content…
For example, you constantly think about it (probably), So whether or not they lay down this rule, it doesn't much deter them from the act. Kids need to be paying attention to the teacher in class, if they are eating not only are they more focused on that but other kids may be sitting back with their own mouths watering not paying attention either. Kids these days seem to think they need to eat all the time. In the old days if a kid said 'I'm hungry' the parent would say wait for lunch or dinner and we didn't have the same obesity problems that we have now. If they have no time to eat then we need to teach them more organisational skills and the Obesity is a very big problem now and day, and by allowing students to choose fast food over healthy choices is ridiculous. Of course many would choose the fast food, But the whole goal of the school lunches is to have the students eat better and be better equipped for the life ahead, being obese would make life hard, Food shouldn’t be allowed in school because it makes you stay off focus because you are focused on eating instead of your school work. It can cause an effect on your grades and your
“Children's current levels of fast-food consumption probably are even higher because of an increase in the number of fast-food restaurants and in fast-food marketing since the late 1990s (Holguin),” stated Ludwig at CBS. Ludwig is right, and this is outside of schools. Most students eat breakfast and lunch during school hours. Therefore, these fast-foods are their main meals… unhealthy meals. Also, where is the money from that allows franchises such as McDonalds to be in high school cafeterias?
In the United States the daily public school lunch consists of pizza, cheese burgers, Chef Boyardee ravioli, fried chicken fingers, French fries and it gets worse. Most American students hate the lunch that their school provides, which means as soon as they are able to drive, they leave school and go to the nearest fast food restaurant. "Critics say that school lunches contribute to the fattening of the United States." (5) The most controversial argument about US school lunches happened when "David Stockman, Reagan's budget director, proposed classifying ketchup as a vegetable to meet dietary requirements while also slashing costs." (5) Honestly, what's next? American school lunches have to meet the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines, which obviously is not good enough considering "30% of individuals calories come from fat, and 10% from saturated fat." In other words, the food is not delicious and there are not many choices. Also, when children don’t get proper nutrition, they have trouble focusing on school. Most students do not buy lunch because they feel it is unappealing and do not like the food served. Many students go to other kids and ask for food. In addition, many students do not eat breakfast, so they rely on lunch to fuel them for the day.
According to the Journal of Law and Health schools that have not banned junk food have had an increase in students more excited to learn because of the sugar count unhealthy foods. Looking at the evidence regarding school lunches from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), students need equal grain and protein proportions to have a healthy daily diet, and over the course of 5 years schools that don't have a healthy lunch program have had their students overall GPA almost completely equivalent to the schools that have had the healthy lunch program. Although having tremendously unhealthy school lunches may not harm your GPA it can immensely harm your health. Lots of average students health are in danger just because of unhealthy school lunches, it is very necessary that schools realize that a healthy lunch program is always a beneficial option. Scientists have found that children who have healthier breakfast and lunch get better grades and have increased brain power. Some evidence points to unhealthy food but healthy food is always the answer in an effective school community. Sometimes unhealthy food is cheaper and tastes better but it can be very costly to your health especially as a
One of the problems that cause weight gain is the lack of parental supervision over what the student consumes. In college, a student can easily stock themselves in fatty snacks such as Twinkies, cookies, chocolate, and chips. Also, the all-you-can-eat buffet seems to most likely run out of the pizza, french fries, and ice cream before the salad. A students schedule sometimes plays a factor in the consuming of too many snacks. If a student is in a hurry, he or she will grab a pop tart and be out of the door with a 200 calorie breakfast. A student should keep away from the high-fat snacks and concentrate on salubrious foods. At the cafeteria, a student should try to eat salads and attempt to eat new kinds of foods since the buffet has so much to offer. And for food on-the-go, one should try to buy healthy snacks or try to wake up earlier ...
Schools have policies on what food is being served in their cafeterias or in the vending machines. Cafeterias sell greasy foods such as curly fries, poutine, pizza and multitudes of cookies and other baked goods. The cafeteria food that is purchased is significantly cheaper in large frozen, junk food quantities which will keep the prices of foods down for the school. Nutritious food has not always been thought out for the children who are purchasing the food from the cafeteria or vending machine. The boards tend to care more about the costs saved on junk foods rather then the rise of obesity within the child generation. Cafeterias with greasy foods and vending machines that are stocked with chips, chocolate and pop continuously allow childhood obesity to be on the rise. Schools have vending machines that sell junk food which contribute to the evolution of childhood
On campus, this problem does result in leaving students hungry. They are seen scarfing down their food after arriving 10 minutes late to class, because the cafeteria was going to close for the rest of the day. Student's stomachs are heard growling, which disturbs the class when in full concentration. Hungry students then do not pay attention in class and causes a domino affect in others stomachs growling, leaving and going between classes, and other disturbances.
Students can have a choice of meals. Students loves to eat fast food because the students loves to eat all kind of fast food like Panda Express or Subway. and the students loves to eat fast food and not school lunch. Students should go the mall and have their own food and not have to pick what they have on the counter. Students should go off campus to get their favorite food from their favorite food restaurant and go eat their with there friends and tell them all about it how this food is so
While the Healthy Kids Act has a good objective, it has many flaws. Kids may eat healthy at school, but the Act has no effect on how kids eat at home. Also, even though students are required to have healthy food on their trays at school, this doesn’t mean that they will eat it all. Much of a school’s money is wasted on food that is just going to end up in the garbage.
Lunch is one of the most important meals that nobody should skip. This meal re-energizes your body and fuels you up. Throughout the United States millions of students eat their lunch at school everyday. Besides eating , lunch serves as a break from the routine of attending classes for students. Modern schools have accepted the idea of an open campus lunch whereas some schools have not. Freedom and responsibility play a huge role in the lives of high school students. Concerning this subject , students should not have that privilege because it opens an area of danger such as car accidents, tardiness.
Many cafeteria workers and staff members in 49 states have said many students do not want the governments new school lunches. Almost 7 out of 17 schools with have been seen with students throwing away some or all their fruits or vegetables, even the cafeteria workers are suffering under these new standards. About 60.3 percent of school districts want flexibility to be given to all schools to improve their ability to provide and give good nutrition without harm to any instructions and school district operations. Schools should know by now what is good for students and what is not, but they should not go overboard with the wheat and whole grain items. Another example that shows that schools should be responsible for providing a nutritious lunch is knowing that there are a variety of ways to make healthy foods taste good for school students. Healthy tasty food that will risk diabetes and obesity .One of the biggest reasons people do not eat healthy foods is because they feel it as if it will not taste good. The problem is, if your health food does not taste good, you are eating the wrong health food. Just because something is good for you does not mean it has to taste nasty, boring, or completely gross. There are plenty of ideas out there for eating healthy without making sacrifices on taste. “It is silly that people are worried about kids throwing things out. There are many ways to make
Should juniors be able to leave campus during lunch to be able to buy a good meal they actually want to eat? Students do not eat school food because they do not like it. Lunch should be a meal that is delicious, and that people enjoy eating. Lunch should be healthy and enjoyable for the students to eat it and like what they are eating. School food is not healthy because they are high in fat, sugar, and salt. Districts across the country have observed a marked drop in the number of students getting their lunch at the cafeteria. The average daily student participation rate for total lunches served began falling, it has declined by about 1.2 million.” Schools do not give students the choice to eat a meal they actually like. Many students are starving themselves just because the school food is not good or healthy. Students cannot focus in class with an empty stomach. A student can get a good meal from a restaurant near by the school in order, so they
Now, some students are underweight and can control what they eat, but others can't. That is not healthy. Healthier foods would help the students focus more, be more energetic and not feel so tired all the time. If the school menu changes to a healthier one then students would become healthy.
Why is this a problem? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, more advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren’t motivated to eat unhealthy, not-tasty food.
We should be able to eat and/or drink in class, what we want, when we want. The main reason I feel this particular way, is because there’s no reason a person should have to go eight in the morning or before until noon or after without eating or drinking something. (If you are in high school, that is). Another one of the main reasons I feel this way is because some kids have problems involving food, such as diabetes. Another possible problem might be hypoglycemia, which, in fact, I have. Hyperglycemia is another major problem in this world. I also believe that students can focus and learn more on a full stomach. Not just because I am, in fact, a student, but because I have been in the situation where I’m hungry and I can’t concentrate on anything, except my stomach and it’s cravings for food.
