At some point every parent deals with the request for cell phone, but nowadays kids younger and younger are asking. 21% of kids 8 years and younger have a cellphone. Most teens nowadays spend an average of 6 hours on their phone each day. As there is many pros and cons to the situation I believe that kids younger than middle school should not have cell phones, therefore parents should wait until at least middle school to give their children cell phones. First off having a cellphone is always nice incase of an emergency, promotes independence for kids, and helps you keep in touch with your kids, but if you are 8 years old you are usually never by yourself, and you are usually with a parent. Also phones can cause distractions in school, having a cellphone in class …show more content…
On the other hand cellphones can also be helpful in school. Such as helping kids be more organized and allowing students to contact parents easily. Most parents give their kids cell phones and ipads to entertain them, and to keep them occupied, there are so many apps and games out nowadays that parents use them to keep their kids occupied, but there is plenty of things an 8 year old can do without a cellphone. Most kids now are more attached to their phones, and don't experience anything other than what is on their phone screen. Most kids aren't very good with confrontation because they've been raised with cell phones where you can say something to someone over the phone that you would never say to them in person. One of the biggest issues with having a cellphone at such a young age is the social media websites, and cyberbullying. Most kids register on social medias when they are under the legal age
I think that kids shouldn't have a phone until the one age of five or older so that they are focused on others rather than playing on a phone. One thing my five year old cousin struggles with not eating because his mom won't give him the phone and that hurting him because he is 6 weighing 20-30 pounds and he isn't getting the nutrition he needs he needs to grow and now he looks 3 instead of 6. Their are lots of kids that refuse to eat because they need to watch T.V. on the phone or play a game. This is just one of the reasons kids should
There truly isn't a(n) 'certain age' to get your kid a cell phone but you shouldn't give your kid a phone until they are 10-11+ because they really don't need it until then. Yes, they will need computers for school but you can get your children a computer that is not portable like an actual computer. By the time they are 16-17 they should probably have a phone because they will start needing to tell you if they are going to a friend's house. If they are going to be late because they are staying late at school for a tutor or something. If, they aren't texting you and they don't tell you anything about what they're doing you can always call them and make sure they are back by curfew.
1 The right age to get a cellphone is when you get 17 or 18 in high school. Some parents buy their child phones such as iphones, samsung, tracphone, and ipad for to call them when ever needed. Kids shouldn't have phones at the age of 6-15, because some kids just call people and then they phone bill need payed. The problem is that when kids have the phone with them in the class and it go off the teacher will take it.Some kids bring they phone to call their momma or grandpa at least they having an emergcy.
Here are the many reasons why kids in middle school should have phones. They are very important reason why kids should have the right to socialize without their parents having to worry about them. When a kid hits middle school he or she automatically wants to start leaving the house more often.Which is a good thing but it’s always good to keep your parent or parents informed on where you are or how you're doing.
To begin with, cell phones are needed in school because a student can have an emergency. As teens get older they are becoming more independent. Often the only way that their parents can be sure that their kids are safe is by calling them. Imagine if there was a fire in a school and your child was the only one to know about it. He/she could call 911 or his/her parents.Or imagine if your child was stuck in the school while it was burning. He/she can call 911, her parents, or a nearby friends. Just like BubbiG(A user on Teenink) said: “Electroni...
In conclusion, kids should have cell phones to ensure that they know what’s expected from them, because a good parent-child relationship starts with good communication. It not only makes the kids feel safer, but it also puts the parents at ease in many ways.
... phone use causes young people to have less concentration and being less able to focus. The facts that have been stated in this research paper shows enough facts that cell phone use has a great effect on young people’s life. Sooner or later the cell phone use may become a major problem in school, so parents need to regulate all use of cell phones.
Most kids feel that they need a smartphone because everyone has one, and parents usually cave to this request. Parents should never be influenced by peer pressure when it comes to raising children because every child has their own rate of growth and maturity. There should not be a set age or grade when a child should receive a phone. Maturity comes at different times for everyone and it is the parents responsibility to understand when their child is ready. For example, “You could have a really immature 15-year-old who’s acting out on the phone, but you give it to him because he’s 15, whereas a really socially mature 12-year-old could handle it better”
This also creates a easy to cheat in environment because most schools can't afford new books so the old books have easily available answer keys (Tlumacki 2015). This amounts to kids spending too much time on devices it becomes an addiction which has been detrimental to the iGen (Kiernan 2017). Now why should kids have cell phones we are in the modern age and the need to know how to use tech has increased greatly. You need to learn how to use it young almost everything in our society uses the internet (Kiernan 2017). You can also have instant contact with your child at all times if they need you an a emergency they can call you those are the best things about a young kid having a phone
Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it creates more drama, and it promotes cheating. Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson.
Are cell phones ruining kids’ lives? While many people believe cell phones are helpful for kids, others might say that cell phones are very harmful. Cell phones can help kids communicate with their parents, help kids find important information, help kids with their learning, and help them enjoy games.
Cell phones have only been in the picture for a short amount of time compared to how long people have been going to school but cell phones are everywhere now and make it difficult for schools to come up with what to do. As many believe they are a distraction and can be used for cheating and other negative stuff. There are also people that are highly in favor of having cellphones as they can be helpful with all the tools they provide and people who are not and it 's all about who makes a better argument. Cell phones used to just have communication abilities but that is far gone now you have the abilities to use apps and different functions that fit nicely into a school environment. Cell phones should be allowed in the classroom as cell phones provide positive benefits and are a helpful tool in learning.
Cell phones can distract from school work and they can distract from driving. Cell phones can easily distract from children getting their school work done. They could get distracted by playing a game or looking at social media sites. If the children don't do their assignments it could cause their grade to go down. This could affect what jobs they get when they are older which could affect their whole live.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
