The novel referenced in this essay is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Today we focus on the main character Jay Gatsby, whose ultimate demise could have been avoided if not for his choices and actions. There are several things that Gatsby could have done to prevent his death. If I was Jay Gatsby, there are so many things that I would have done differently to have a better outcome and possibly prevent his death. In this essay, we will not only explore what those options could have been, I will also consider what he could have done differently. Then lastly you will hear my perspective and what I would have done if I was Mr. Gatsby. The worst decision that Jay Gatsby could have made was after the war, staying for five years hoping that one day Daisy was going to come back to him. He is trying to live in a world where Daisy never got married and waited for him to come back from the war, and that she would still love him as he once did. Tom stopped for gas in Gatsby's car and Myrtle saw him. So later on in the night, while Gatsby and Daisy were driving home. Myrtle ran in front of the car thinking it was Tom and he was going to stop instead of Daisy driving and it became a hit and run. This was a bad decision because if Gatsby never let Tom drive his car, Myrtle wouldn't have jumped in front of the car and maybe she would still be alive. If she was still alive, maybe Gatsby would have been shot. If i was in gatsby's shoes again as i said before i would have moved on. I would have also not let Tom drive my car. Like if you are getting with his wife behind his back, why are you letting him drive your car? Tom also just seems irresponsible.
