The key goal of the Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard is to provide a sense of normalcy for children and youth in out-of-home care. This means children and youth are able to do what is considered routine such as participating in sports, attending events, spending unsupervised time with friends, taking on responsibilities, and – for older youth – having a later curfew. Normalcy is attained through activities where youth: • Learn and develop their own talents and interests • Have the opportunity to safely experiment and take risks • Practice decision-making skills • And develop healthy adult and peer relationships. Normalcy is truly achieved when children and youth learn skills, take advantage of opportunities and develop relationships

The main points of the children’s act 1989 are parental responsibility and the welfare of the child. Children are best cared for within their own families. The act states that the mental and physical wellbeing of the child is important. Professionals and parents/carers must work together to ensure the safety of the child. Local authorities have a duty to look into situations where they suspect a child or young person to be suffering from significant harm. Duties get allocated to local authorities, and other agencies to ensure that all children are safeguarded. The children’s act 2004 reinforces that all organisations that work with children and young people must help to safeguard

Based on my observations, I have learnt that each child is remarkable and extraordinary and the biological, surroundings and the educational encounters impact a child's advancement. Along these lines, as a juvenile justice social work student, I have learned to abstain from summing up somebody's practices and/or behaviors solely based on my visual perceptions. I also have to think about how probable it is that young ones have their own qualities and unmistakable excellencies. Reasoning being, is because many practices and/or behaviors are greatly impacted by the system in which that individual grew up. While doing this assignment, I reflected on my past encounters as a kid, my beliefs, mentalities, my childhood guidelines furthermore inspected how they affected my development. By building up this self-awareness, it has set me up for against harsh practice and a consciousness of how I identify with individuals.

This also allows families to make the right decisions about the services that provide the best education and care for their children. In the National Quality Standard, there are seven standards that provide children with the quality of education and care services. These seven standards include educational program and practice; children’s health and safety; physical environment; staffing arrangements; relationships with children; collaborative partnerships with families and communities; leadership and service management (Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority [ACECQA], 2013). The National Quality Standard aims to support and foster the safety, health and wellbeing of children. A normal day for a daycare facility is to have many classrooms full of students like a typical public school; however, they are younger children and are being supervised by an adult. That adult is responsible for, on average, four to ten students at any given time, ages ranging from zero to six. During that time, a lot can happen. These busy workers have many responsibilities throughout the day. The most important one is safety. Because these children are so young, they are also adventurous therefore need a lot of attention. Daycare workers have to spend much time supervising these children while performing other tasks throughout the day. Not only do children need to be supervised to be safe, but they also need to have a safe, clean and presentable environment that the daycare workers of the facility are to maintain. One way to keep things clean is to sanitize, in which is a big task of these workers. Children are always putting things in their mouth and then passing it off to other kids; therefore, sanitation is a big deal in these types of facilities. Another responsibility that daycare providers have are to enforce rules. When rules are broken, these providers are to then enforce discipline policies. These can sometimes become an issue seeing that these providers are not the parents of the children thus they have to consult with the parents on certain discipline techniques to use on specific children. On the other hand, these providers are similar to parents in the sense that they wash children's clothing and clean up after every child. In addition to all the other responsibilities, daycare providers also have to maintain current, accurate and confidential client files per child. These files are to consist of observations and r...
...onomy. Day care can be a positive option for parents seeking help with child care. It is self-assuring for many parents that are struggling to raise a family while balancing job security, to know that there are a variety of options out there for the watching of children. As with any difficult task, the monitoring of child safety concerns should stay primarily as a parent’s number one responsibility and concern. Today there is government help and assistance by providing mandatory safety and ethics requirements that are enforced through safety-regulatory agencies and through inspections for compliance for the purpose of licensing approval. It is a welcome thought for parents to know that they may be doing their children a favor in using a day care, by helping their young ones become better prepared for kindergarten and giving them an opportunity to learn new skills.
Keeping your children safe and healthy is one of your top responsibilities as a parent. Generally speaking, you need to protect your kids from the lack of sound judgment that may accompany their as-yet-undeveloped maturity. Although they might sometimes resent your perceived intrusion, children and adolescents need to be exposed to structure and boundaries – so that they can learn to create such things for themselves once they reach adulthood.
The first requirement for a good program for young children and any other children are the safety provided for them. Children should feel safe in their surroundings in the program that they will enter. Parents should always ask and know the safety precautions each program serves. Knowing the precaution the program does to visitors, drop off and pick ups, and around the whole facility is important. A good program should have a policy for visitors. It is also important to know that the program has a good policy for children’s drop off and pick up. To assure a secure facility to the safety of the children a program should not only be safe for them but for the whole environment.

There are many different things that I take into consideration when it comes to parenting. Parents have many different responsibilities but there are three in particular that I think are very important. Being a good role model is important, as well as listening to your children and disciplining them appropriately. If you want to be a good parent you have to put your kids first.
