This approach aims to end the chronic and persistent poverty by helping the poor to become more self-supporting through changes in their lives and their environment. It will break the cycle of poverty; the curative approach strives to initiate the poor into employment and later the middle class. The alternative strategies that has been developed that would be more effective in combating poverty is saving and accumulation of assets.
