EXCALIBUR!!!
when someone says Excalibur most people think of the sword when i hear it i think of the goofy looking character that transforms into a sword. they’re pretty much the same thing, but most people would disagree. According to the information i've collected the character EXCALIBUR! is based heavily on the actual sword in the older stories. there are many details and bits of information in the show that ties together with the actual story.
excalibur is/was a great and magnificent sword, and in the show SoulEater excalibur is portrayed almost exactly like in the old stories with only a few minor differences.
SoulEater starts out with 3 prologues introducing the seven main characters, in the first prologue you meet Soul and Maka,

Soul isa scythe and Maka is his meister they have to collect 99 Souls and 1 witches soul in order to turn Soul into a Death scythe, they had 99 souls but when they battled the witch Blair and took her soul they found out she was actually just a cat with magical powers. and after they told lord death (aka the grim reaper) about their failure he confiscated all the souls they collected and made them start all over again. In the second prolog you meet Black★star (yes he spells his name with a star) and Tsubaki. Tsubaki is is Black★star’s weapon, she can transform into multiple items like: a chain scythe, a giant shuriken (ninja star), a smoke bomb, and a “ninja blade”, later on she obtains the shadow blade form which is a bigger version of the ninja blade, it has more power, and is also harder to control. Tsubaki and Black★star are on a mission to “ASSASSINATE” (to kill someone without being seen) Al capone and his gang. they discuss their “Assassination” technique, then Black★star ignores it completely and just jumps on the dining table and yells his name and says how amazing he is………(anyway) they haven't managed to collect a single soul so lord death gives them one more chance to go after Al, Al capone was going after a witch, so Black★star has an idea get all the souls of Al’s gang and the witch and turn tsubaki into a Death scythe, but when he got there Mifune (an awesome guy who fights with multiple swords (supposedly infinite) and protects the witch Angela) had killed Al’s gang. Black★star then challenges him, Mifune declined at first and told him killing a kid would give him nightmares. They then proceeded to fight, Mifune was holding back and hit Black★star with the back of the blade, this only made Black★star mad and so he started fighting more seriously and beat mifune. then a little kid came out to protect mifune, she was the witch Angela. even though he was weak Mifune still protected Angela and was ready to die but Black★star walked away saying killing a kid would give him nightmares. when Black★star returned to lord death with all the souls of Al capones gang he told Black★star he could take the souls since he still had none but he refused because he didn't kill them himself. The third and final prolog introduces Death The Kid or “Kid” lord death’s son and his weapons Liz & Patty. Liz & Patty can transform into twin pistols. Kid asked his father (lord death) to go on a mission to the pyramid of anubis to take the soul of the witch samantha and the mummy she had awoken so he can create his own Death scythe, his father accepts and he searches for the pyramid of anubis. when they arrive at the pyramid, kid admires how symmetrical it is, he then freaks out about not folding the toilet paper into a triangle at home (hes obsessed with symmetry) then leaves to go check. Liz freaks out when she runs into a horde of mummies and one licks her (grose!) so her and patty switch out between their human and gun forms to defeat them. when kid reaches his home he realizes it was just his imagination then returns to the pyramid, when he gets there liz and patty were uh…. a bit tied up… (literally) but then kid freed them, but when they transform into their weapon forms kid couldn't shoot the mummy it was symmetrical in every way. the mummy comes out of its coffin to finish him off but when kid sees him he goes into a blind rage because of how unsymmetrical he was and mercilessly shoots him over and over and over (and over) until he shoots him through the pyramid. when he comes back from the mission his father confiscated the soul as punishment for destroying the pyramid. And now we get to talk about the best character in the show EXCALIBUR! you first meet EXCALIBUR! when Black★star gets in trouble and he has to clean the library, but he just read a comics most of the time, then kid asks him for the book he's sitting on titled “EXCALIBUR”. kid tells him about EXCALIBUR and what amazing things it can do. they both leave the library to search for EXCALIBUR! meanwhile Tsubaki was cleaning the library and Sid (the teacher that made Black★star clean the library) was mad when he came back, but then Stine (aka Franken Stine another teacher ) told him they went looking for EXCALIBUR! Sid then decided that EXCALIBUR would be enough of a punishment for them. After climbing mountains and walking through a river inside a cave they eventually find EXCALIBUR! stuck in the ground. After Kid had read in the book (only the chosen Hero will be able to wield EXCALIBUR!) Kid then makes a remark about how beautiful and symmetrical it is. Black★star proceeded to pull out the sword, he put it back and let Kid try, he was successful in pulling it out as well. EXCALIBUR! then transformed and said: "Welcome. Welcome to my cave young ones. Please forgive the belated salutations. I am the holy sword EXCALIBUR!”. Kid and Black★star were surprised at his appearance, he then began to annoy them by constantly exclaiming the word FOOL!! and shaking his cane inches away from their faces and constantly talking about his legend and the 1000 provisions. they decide to put him back because he wasnt worth all the trouble. the second time EXCALIBUR! is seen Ox or Oxford was searching for him so he could get more information about him and finish his paper for class (what a coincidence) EXCALIBUR! annoyed him as well but this time he told many stories about his past. The third time Hero looked for him and agreed to be his meister . when he arrived at schools the next everyone was shocked to see Hero with EXCALIBUR! A few days later Hero became arrogant and got challenged by Kid, Black★star and Kirikou (another classmate) he beat all of them at the same time with only one move, but Hero forgot one of the provisions NO. 573 “always stay 3 steps behind me” so EXCALIBUR starts sneezing uncontrollably the next day everything was back to normal, Hero couldn't stand EXCALIBUR’s sneezing fits so he put him back…..yeah. “Legendary figures throughout the world are associated with magical swords” witch could be the same sword, and in the anime EXCALIBUR is said to have been with many historical figures like king Arthur ( Andronik, Catherine M. Quest for a King: Searching for the Real King Arthur. New York: Atheneum, 1989. Print). And in the show he talks about being with Sherlock Holmes, there is also a book about sherlock looking for EXCALIBUR! In the story of king Arthur he lost his scabbard forever. in the anime EXCALIBUR never has a scabbard or anything, he's just stuck in the ground, which is made of stone like in some of the other stories. its said that his name might have come from the place he was forged at, ““EXCALIBUR” is said to derive from ex-cale-burno or “by the river cale” meaning brook (river)” (Andronik, Catherine M. Quest for a King: Searching for the Real King Arthur. New York: Atheneum, 1989. Print). in the show EXCALIBUR!
is found in a cave and in the cave you must walk through a river to find him. in every story of EXCALIBUR! there are different versions of him being found and put back in a lake where the lady of the lake is located. this connects with the many people in the show that find him then put him back. “the lady of the lake was said to be a fairy”, and in the cave EXCALIBUR was in also was the home of a few fairies ("Faeries." Faeries. N.p., n.d. Web. 08 May 2015). In some stories “EXCALIBUR” is said to be forged by elves, (like in lord of the rings not santa's midget elves) elves are also portrayed as fairies, or fairy people. EXCALIBURS! blade was tremendously sharp and magical, gives its owner more skill and power than he ordinarily possessed. The hilt was encrusted with precious jewels. it is also like this in the anime except the hilt …show more content…

truly is insufferable to all but but a "chosen" few. And because of this those who to try and use excalibur long enough to achieve anything significant are referred to as "hero" and "king" those with a strong will can withstand these annoying deficiency. Anyone is capable of building Excalibur but no one can put up with his shenanigans so it is difficult for him to have a meister. His dysfunctional personality manifest itself mostly in the word "FOOL!" used as a means of interruption to those Excalibur views with disdain and contempt and due to his superiority complex is practically relevant to everyone. Excalibur also likes to go on numerous rants about himself before bursting into song. If these deficiencies aren't enough toward you off and maybe his mannerisms will surely repulse even the most convicted of individuals whether it's from Excalibur waving his cane in your face or one of his deplorable sneezing fit . Even though he comes off as a goofy character he has portrayed moments of complete seriousness when called upon. He was shown being serious with king arthur and Lord death a.k.a the Grim Reaper. he is also sometimes willing to lend himself to people without his provisions like Liz when they were trying to save kid. this hints at a more complex personality in fact one could consider his annoying personality was crafted as a result to him being the other god of madness born from rage” ("Soul Eater Wiki." - Facts and Info for the Fans. May 2015). EXCALIBUR! when in his sword form possesses numerous and tremendous capabilities such as the wings of light these wings don't just let you fly they also give you a bit of a speed boost, with the wings of light the user is capable of attaining velocities comparable to the speed of light nearly 186,282 miles per second . This means you're moving so fast it appears as if you are teleporting. Another amazing ability is called the spacial rift, with just a single swing from Excalibur's blade one is said to be able to rip a hole in the fabric of space thus the user would have the power to teleport. This next one isn't much of an ability it's more of a side effect Excalibur is able to drive someone to madness ("Soul Eater Wiki." - Facts and Info for the Fans. N.p., n.d. Web. 08 May 2015). Now maybe after read about souleater and EXCALIBUR! and how it relates to the real life stories, you will see that anime can be a little educational.

Hope and joy can be hard to find especially when times are tough. This is a situation in Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse , the character Billy Jo and her family are living in the time of the Dust Bowl and are struggling financially . Her father is a farmer in a time where nothing grows and after an accident Billy Jo’s mother passes away. This is a big part of Billy Jo is effected emotionally and shows seems very sad. Julius Caesar is mentioned throughout the book, A Long Way Gone, many times. In A Long Way Gone, Ishmael would be reading Julius Caesar or a soldier would be reciting some of the speeches in the play. In Chapter 12 of A Long Way Gone, Ishmael is called over to talk with Lieutenant Jabati. Then, Lieutenant Jabati showed Ishmael the book he was reading, which was Julius Caesar, and asked Ishmael if he had ever heard of the book. Ishmael had read the book in school, and began to recite a speech from the book. After this happened, Lieutenant Jabati and Corporal Gadafi used emotional arguments to motivate the people in the village to stay there and support the military. Also, Lieutenant showed all the people in the village dead bodies to help
The novel Suttree is centered on Cornelius “Buddy” Suttree, a college educated man who has decided to forsake his former life and live in a houseboat on the Tennessee River outside of Knoxville, Tennessee in a fairly destitute area known as McAnally Flats in 1951. He leaves his wife and child, a son, giving up the comfortable life to live as a river rat of sorts. He seems to be searching for something, unbeknownst to him or the reader. Possibly the meaning of life, but more than likely it’s a way to deal with death that seems to follow Suttree around throughout the novel. He’s not one for social norms, coming off as being an anarchist. He runs from his responsibilities, rebels against authority, and refuses to be bound by social convention. His everyday life is a hodge podge of drunken adventures, be it brawls or waking up in the morning in the local lockup hungover and confused. He associates with the
Antonio Márez, the main character of Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, begins the Departure element of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle when he initiates his journey to adulthood. He questions whether he belongs to his mother’s family, the Lunas, who live as farmers, or his father’s family, the Márezes, who freely wander the land. His care for his family demonstrates his maturity at attempting to always do the best he can for everyone. Although his parents each want him to follow their families’ paths, they remain absent from Antonio’s true journey of understanding his own thoughts and beliefs, leaving him “frightened to be alone” (Anaya 7); the lack of parental support through his personal conflict leads him to have trouble knowing how to address

Author Rudolfo Anaya’s novel Bless Me, Ultima is a story that pays a strong respect to family and culture values. The story itself is a semi- autobiography during the childhood of the author. Throughout the story he used experiences and memories, from the way he describes the town, people, school and church. In the Novel, we follow the life of six year old Antonio Marez, who is struggling with different questions about life and death, he ponders to know why doesn’t God punish evil and help the good. More questions arise after his close friend Cico tells Antonio about the Golden Carp. And the experiences he has with his mysterious caretaker, friend and teacher Ultima.
“The Cask of Amontillado” is a dark piece, much like other works of Edgar Allan Poe, and features the classic unreliable narrator, identified by himself only as Montresor. This sinister central character is a cold ruthless killer that is particularly fearsome because he views murder as a necessity and kills without remorse. Montresor is a character who personifies wickedness. Poe uses this character and his morally wrong thoughts and actions to help the reader identify with aspects of the extreme personage, allowing them to examine the less savory aspects of their own. The character of Montresor detailing the glorious murder he committed is a means of communicating to the reader that vengeance and pride are moral motivators that lead to treacherous deeds and dark thoughts.
When the joust came to represent the horsemanship of the fighter, safeguards evolved. The lance was fitted with a three pronged tip called a coronal, which was designed to keep the weapon from penetrating a knights helm and to re-distribute the force of the impact. Also, armor was developed specifically for the joust.
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Reverend John Hale’s role in the witch trials changed from a confident and passionate proponent to a guilty and despairing dissenter. He entered the play with an eager air about him, and he was keen to use his expertise and knowledge in witchcraft and the Devil in order to dispel the evil witches who “trafficked with the Devil” (Miller 61) in the town of Salem. Furthermore, he was proud of the fact that he was called upon specifically to help out with Salem’s witch problem. However, toward the end of the play, he was “steeped in sorrow” (Miller 119) and “exhausted.” He realized too late that the accusations of the afflicted girls were just fabricated lies. Moreover, his mistake caused a countless number of innocent people to be thrown in jail and hanged. With this revelation clouding his mind and breaking his heart, he became an anguished man who regretted his actions that aided the conviction of numerous so-called witches. He fought against the witch trials after that, but his actions were inadequate. The witch trials still went on. Hale ended up being a character who opposed the witch trials, but instead of going against the court as aggressively as John Proctor, he begged the accused to confess in order to save their own lives. He believed that it was better to lie and live than deny and die.

“Heroes can help us lift our eyes a little higher” (LaBarge). LaBarge is saying that heroes inspire us and because they inspire us, the sword Excalibur is popular in animation. Everyone searches for a person who can lead them, who possesses great power, and who can inspire them; the sword Excalibur is always wielded by someone who fits those traits. The powerful blade makes an appearance in the animation Soul Eater, Sword Art Online, and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, which takes different approaches on the sword Excalibur and its abilities. In the chronicles, Excalibur is described as a majestic weapon that possess incomprehensible powers. The sword is always evolving because of how the Arthurian legends were written, the sword inspires
...alahad is portrayed still as a noble knight, however not that of the Lord, instead a Pagan. Galahad is also similar in age to Lancelot and Arthur, therefore making it seem that the reference of Lancelot being Galahad’s father is nonexistent. There is also no Grail quest, and thus eliminates the motive of God that drives Galahad in all other writings presented.
In the story My Favorite Chaperone, by Jean Davies Okimoto, I believe the theme is how working together makes life's struggles easier. The characters show this theme throughout the story. As children immigrants, the main characters struggle with combining a new culture with their family culture to find a new identity without bringing shame to their family. In the story, Maya, the main character, faces issues in how to fit in with a new world in America. In this new world there are different rules and expectations while she still has to respect and follow her family's traditions and rules. This conflict is shown when Maya wants to go to a school dance, but knows her parents would never let her go especially after she gets in trouble for
