Romeo and Juliet is a play about two star crossed lovers who unfortunately died, due to the feud between families. This play was originally published in 1597 and is still alive today. Many schools use this play as an opportunity to show students, how old english was written and how far we have come from then. One main conspiracy that people have to this play, is who was actually responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In this essay I will explain my opinion on who was responsible for their deaths. The three main characters I think were responsible for their deaths are: Friar Lawrence, Nurse, and Shakespeare.

is, Friar Lawrence. The reason that Friar Lawrence comes to my mind is because he ultimately joined Romeo and Juliet together (Or married). He was planning that the marriage would bring peace between the two families, as it says in the play “ In one respect i’ll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households rancor to pure love.Act 3 scene3” Since Friar Lawerence allowed their marriage to take place I think it led to them always wanting to be together I think that if Friar Lawrence had not approved of Romeo's idea none of these things would have happened. Even though Friar Lawrence could have prevented their deaths, I still have two more accusations. I think the most shocking one to be accused of their deaths is Romeo.
After Romeo had fell affectionate for Juliet at the Masquerade party, he longed for her. Once Romeo and Juliet had fallen in love, he was so focused on being with her he didn't realize the effects that were gonna happen. He did not think of their families names and the slight chance they had to be together. He also made their chance of being together even worse after he fought and killed Tybalt. The prince did not want any fighting between the two families so he banished Romeo from Verona. Because Romeo and Juliet were so in love Juliet, could not think of a life without him so she threatened to kill herself “Shall be the label to another deed,Or my true heart with treacherous revolt, Turn to another, this shall slay them both.Therefore out of thy long-experienced time. Act 4 Scene 1” Juliet then went to Friar Lawrence and asked if she could have a sleeping potion that would allow her to fake her death so Romeo would come and save her. After she had drunk the potion her father set up a ceremony for her passing, but Romeo had never gotten the message that said it was fake. So he went and broke up the tomb to see his love “dead” on a bed. He was so heartbroken that he then killed himself to take the anger and hurtfulness away. Juliet wakes up to see her husband on the ground dead and she then kills herself too. This part of the play is where I blame Romeo for his actions. In my opinion I still do not think
this is the true character responsible for their deaths. I do not blame a character for their deaths but the author, Shakespeare. The author of any book can determine anything that will happen in it, and in this case Romeos and Juliets deaths. Shakespeare could have changed the outcome of this play many times. The play could have been written that Juliet had found Romeo beside her deathbed about to kill himself, but she stopped him. He could have altered the play in various ways but I think he let the outcome happen because he wanted readers to make up their own story of what happened after their deaths. He wanted them to become creative and make their own aftermath of the feud. I ultimately think that shakespeare was the author, who was responsible for Romeo and Juliet's deaths.

Personally however, I believe that three of the main characters are more at fault then the other characters. First is Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend. One of these opinions is that both Romeo and Juliet are equally to blame for their own deaths. Romeo nor Juliet knew how to resolve their own problems and went directly to Friar Lawrence. Whenever Romeo and Juliet failed to resolve their problem, their resolution was suicide. Romeo and Juliet also withheld the love affair between them, from their families.
Throughout time, there have been many tragedies cause by romance. For example, the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is known for its romantic tragedy between two star-crossed lovers. With all the deaths, who is truly to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths? Friar Laurence is most to blame for many obvious, yet overlooked reasons.
There is a lot of blame to go around in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare but in the end, Friar Laurence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. He agrees to marry them, which Romeo took as an act of approval for his and Juliet’s relationship. He also mapped out risky plans that he could have taken more caution when executing. Lastly, he was too wrapped up in the fact that their relationship could bring the Montagues and the Capulets together after too many years of conflict to see that the relationship would bring many dangers and that he should have at least attempted to slow it down.

The sole character that was responsible for their deaths is Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of the lovers because he was secretive with their relationship, he was unable communicate effectively, and he had a cowardly persona.
