In “Walden”, by Henry David Thoreau, there are various aphorisms used in order to come across with the main idea of being unmaterialistic. Thoreau discusses how in society when one becomes acclimated to spending money on unnecessary, this causes more stress and labor for the individual. In fact, Thoreau had always imagined owning a farm, but he soon came to the realization that this would only cause more trouble and inconveniences.
