Recommended: Differences in the 3 monotheistic religions

Judaism is one of the three major monotheistic religions. The Jews have a covenant with God saying that if they follow the ten commandments, God will destroy all their enemies and give the Jews the Holy Land, which is modern day Palestine.
Christianity is another one of the three major monotheistic religions.Christians believe that Jesus Christ lived and died for their sins. If you believe in Jesus you will be given everlasting life in heaven.
Islam is another monotheistic religion. They believe that there is one God and Muhammad is his prophet. God gave his last word to Earth in the Koran, and if they follow this message they will go to heaven. Islam also has five pillars, including making a pilgrimage to Mecca, praying five times a day towards Mecca, almsgiving, fasting during Ramadan, and finally that there is only one God and Muhammad is his prophet.
A transformative social movement is a social movement that seeks to completely overthrow the social order. They want to completely change society, an example of a transformative social movement is the Civil Rights Movement. They wanted to completely change the way society viewed and treated the African Americans. …show more content…

An example of a reformative social movement is the Temperance Movement. They wanted to make alcohol illegal, they didn’t want to change the social order.
In my opinion the Same Sex Union is a transformative social movement. This is because to convince people to give homosexuals the right to marry, you have to change the way society feels about homosexuals. Although is may seem like a reformative social movement, because it only seeks to change the fact that homosexualscan’t get married, it needs to be transformative to achieve the goal.
