In most cases than not, these people are being either stereotyped or misconceptualized. Although not all stereotypes and misconceptions are negative. Stereotypes and misconceptions are not the same as discrimination or being prejudice. Prejudice involves attitude and discrimination involves behavior, whereas stereotypes and misconceptions are simply beliefs. Many believe that it is impossible to live on a plant based diet, the diet is unsustainable, unnecessary, or the people on a plant based diet are eating only whole plant foods, with meals consisting of only salads. The opposite is actually true, people on a plant based diet find it is actually simple to follow a plant based diet and easy to cook and prepare food while on a plant based diet, as opposed to preparing food with or made of animal products. When we think of our national health we wonder why Americans end up obese, heart disease filled, and diabetic. Michael Pollan’s “ Escape from the Western Diet” suggest that everything we eat has been processed some food to the point where most of could not tell what went into what we ate. Pollan thinks that if America thought more about our “Western diets” of constantly modified foods and begin to shift away from it to a more home grown of mostly plant based diet it could create a more pleasing eating culture. He calls for us to “Eat food, Not too much, Mostly plants.” However, Mary Maxfield’s “Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eating”, argues differently she has the point of view that people simply eat in the wrong amounts. There are some stereotypes that people give me and I laugh at them because they are so wrong. Some include; boring, perverted, salty, stupid, etc. I say that i’m not boring because I can get people to laugh with me and laugh at me. I say that i’m not perverted because I am a respectful gentleman. I say i'm not salty because I have a better personality than most people. I say that i’m not stupid because I haven’t been in drugs, school shootings, or anything that will get me involved with the cops.

Think of society as being a job interview. They take a long hard look at you, and ask where you our from and all about you. Are you good enough to be hired? Your not accepted because of one thing, and when you change that one thing it’s another. People will never just say what it is about you they want you to change. They will just keep inputting new requirements that they know you don’t have have. How will you change if you don’t know what to change or how to?
